limiting straps??
im curious to know how many of you are using limiting straps as part of your suspension or have any experience with them?
ive been working on my suspension lately and i came across one of the old heads from around my way who has been racing for years and he has told me that these and from him seing vids of my car he said they will help noticeably on the 60'...first time some one told me this i was like ehh w.e maybe later on but this is the second time and im getting the itch to try it out
are there any cons of using these?
does it really drop.1 from your 60'?

for those who might not know waht im talking about ...thats not a honda btw

It depends on your susp..
I have used them with great success. When I drove my car all the time I had Mugen springs and Mugen adj. struts on it. I raced it on 225's alot and my 60's where not consistant at all. I put on limiting straps and the 60's stayed in the 1.8's all the time. Slicks didnt matter as much thou. I tryed to limit wheel drop to 3"s or less but, dont go less then an inch because then the tire become your susp.

If you dont have good suspension yes they help. They did for me. I have run them for the past 2 seasons. Like stated above dont limit the suspension to much it makes the sidewall of your tire the suspension. A great way to spend less the 20 bucks at the hardware store for a good consistant strap setup with chain. Thats how i did mine. Make sure you use Stainless stuff. The cheaper metal links break and willl make the car pull rather hard.
bart and to the other guys i just changed the suspension, i had omni drags with 10k rear 8k front...nose was diving between shifts and car was lifting while launching badly even with my weigh bar in the front...and ontop when i let off it will fall on the slicks ...
i now have ksports with a 10.5 k front and 12k rear...i havent tried these yet

im also running the ksports man and my 60's flat out stink the best i have gotten is 1.72 im thinking with around 630hp. im going to upgrade the springs and see how that works

what spring rates are you using on them now? and how did you set the damping
well i seen 1.67 one time on the omnis' after that it was 1.68-1.72 at its most...but the deaper the season got the higher the 60's whent...my tires are beat i have almost 60 passes on them
i put some other slicks on the car about 2 weeks ago and got it to hook and then my clutch was slipping so my slicks were'nt the only problem, i even saw a 2.2 60' in 1 pass in the last event
now with the ksports ands the stiffer springs and me being able to play with the damping i should see some better 60's along with a new set of slicks...
jesus i know we were trying to get the car dialed in and had some fuel pump issues, but also figured the spring rates for the ksports were just not enough. I had a rod bolt let lose so back to it in march lol
Center lap belts from a van (seat belts), chains, etc. Bolt them to the top of the strut, on the underside of the strut tower, and then to the LCA where the strut bolts to it. If you can, put the car on the ground, before you bolt the bottom, have someone stand on the tower or front end, and bolt it up.
I have been wondering about how to do this since I seen them on the PFC video. Could someone post up some pics of their setups? I would love to try this next season and do a before and after suspension test!
no disrespect or trying to sound like a dick but this is something you need to ask your tuner. he'll be able to help you further than i can just throwing out ideas since he knows your setup.
bump for some pics or some good ways to make some please! I know it's just a band aid fix but I would like to do some testing with my current suspension and straps vs. my new suspension I have not installed yet. Thanks H-T!
