Default Lenso legality question

I've seen/heard some people say that Lenso isn't legal for competition use. Now Ive seen tons of pictures from IDRC events and seen a lot of people run this setup. I've been trying to find some pictures of nhra events with people running lensos but don't see any.

So I guess maybe perhaps the they arent legal in the NHRA? But Ive read the rulebook over and over again and it looks like theyre ok for usage, since the lugs will cover over the limit on the length of the stock studs. Does anyone have any hard fact on this?

They are a dangerous wheel. I remember when Rogar S. sheard off his lugs and send a wheel flying down the track. The reason for this is because they are a street type wheel. I knew a couple guys who run in the pro class that if they saw a guy was lining up with a guy who had those on...they would just back up and refuse to race. The only way to run those wheels is to get a special made lug nuts. The reason they had problems is because there was space in between the lug and the wheel where as with a bogart wheel there is no space because the wheel goes on and the space is filled up with the lug nuts. I heard you can get these from them...or maybe you can get some that would work from other places. I think for your safety alone, you need to get the lug nuts that do this or I wouldnt run them. Other then that...I think its all good and they are legal to run.

but then again, Roger had a 10 sec car.
I believe the Lenso is for just the average weekend racer.

well hell, i'm bout to put the lensos on my car and it should be high tens. Where can you get the special lugs that you are talking about. I know that there are special studs needed for the lensos so that they will be legal, but where can i find the studs and how much.

When you do run your slicks, make sure you have metal valve stems. Certain tracks will sh*t on you for it if you have rubber valves stems. For Bogarts the way they drill the valve hole, it may easily cut a rubber valve stem and blow up at the track, it's a safety issue. So get metal when you get slicks on. Just an FYI.

I'm running Lenso as well, but then again.. I'm only running 12s... But I have upgraded the studs to ARP wheel studs, so I don't know if that help in any way... I haven't taken notice to the gaps between the rim and studs, but I'll be sure to check that when I get into the shop later on.... So.. yeah.. where can I get a set of these special lugs? I noticed the bogart ones have a collar to them that sleeves into the rim.. Are those the kind of lug you're referring to?

as long as you have the correct extended wheel studs with the correct open end lug nuts your hsould never have a problem.

Have you ever looked for DOT approval on Lensos? Not sure they were ever approved for use. Check me on this...
