Launching problem
Ok guys, need some opinions. I have a very mild 90 hatch on a 225/50R15 BFG and cant get it to hook. I generally launch at between 4-5000 with the tires at 8.5 psi. Ive tried pre loading and feathering but I still get 2.2 60 fts. Im starting to think that I MAY be spinning the rims in the tires cause the pressure is set to low. Any thoughts or ideas are aprciated.
Thanks,
Sean

i am still new at pre-load launching, but sunday at e-town, i was 8200 on the 2 step, leaving at 9 psi with 9.5 in the tires and not spinning the wheel in the tire. you have an open diff?
I can definetly tell you that your not spinning the rims on the tires lol. When you take too much air out of a tire, it tends to ride on the outer sides of the tire and the middle bows inwards instead off getting the maximum contact pactch in the middle. I found that 14psi was the best psi for getting the best traction before my 60fts started getting worse, your tire may be different. Are you doing a decent burnout to warm them up as well? Practice makes perfect with learning how to launch, it took me about 18 runs with my CRX before I was able to find the right RPM to launch at, tire pressure to use and best way to let/slip the clucth and click off a 14 second pass. Granted, I was 15 when I first started racing and did my swap and my dad hadnt ever raced a day in his life so I kinda had to figure these things out on my own.
24.5x8x13in slicks are whole new world for me, its been fun learning how to launch with em lol.
good luck

BTW whats your setup?

Thanks for the input, one of the things I was thinking as well was that the pressure was just plain to low. My set up is more or less a bolt on GSR. Its I/H/E and full suspension. Oh and no LSD
