hey guys. Just curious what rpm do you launch at when on the drag strip? I m going to the track for the first time so just wanted some advise. I have a mildly built b18c1 with forge wiseco pistons and type r cams. My clutch is a comp clutch st2 with lightened flywheel but OEM axles. I just don't want to break anything. Any advise would super cool. Thanks

 

Try the Drag Racing forum. It would also help alot if u include what kind of tires you're using , what chassis the motors in , what kind of power your motor is making , and which tranny you're using. Launch RPMs can vary alot

 

ide say depending on the car and tires anything in vtec around 6000 to 7500. i think everyone is dif.

 

trial and error find out what you and your car likes. i know my car likes to be launched at 6800. when i drive my friends car it likes to be launched at 5600. every car is different.

The car is a dc2. I will be running my street tires which are toyo proxes on 16s. not too sure what kind of power the motor makes but i have a base map from phearable. my gearbox is a gsr tranny with a typr r lsd. my valve train is good and the motor is beefed up with rods and pistons(eagle rods/12:1 comp). i know it will be trial and error but just wanted some insight before i hit the tarmac. i'm sure i'll have wheel spin. should i drop my tire pressure? thanks guys. keep the advise coming.

if you are on proxes, slip the clutch.. those tires have a tendency to hop like crazy if you are not careful.. oon street tires, i'd say nothing less than 20 psi

my recommendation would be to get some drag radials.. your 1-2 gears are gonna go up in smoke with more than 280 whp on tap

 

which proxes ? .. the T1R ? , if so id say start at around 4,000 rpm and trial and error from then on. I launched at around 3800 on Kuhmo SPTs on my Dc2 with the 2.0L setup and the R tranny . PSI was at around 23 psi.

 

950rpm.

 

^^^its funny cause its true...street tires wtf you go anyhigher than 3k and your 60 fts are gonna be in the 3s

 

Hell, I'll be launching at 3500rpm in my race car on 28's...

Then again, I'll also be spraying 150+ to it too
