Default Launch control

Pulling timing out to control wheel speed with programable ignition boxes what effect does it have on the engine? Will it damage it?

you can pull timing through your ems software rather than through a msd box. ive been doing that for along time. you run less boost in 1st gear than any other gear, so you can pull timing at that boost level to make it make less power.

some of the other boxes have other features a little more advanced than simply pulling timing.

So why is people saying that msd box is the key to better short track times, but I dont want to play with timing if it could be hurting the engine.

it isnt timing. it is a time based rev limiter thats all.

I think he's talking more about what the V8 guys do, which is ramp in their advance over time.

You might see a rise in EGTs with retarding the timing off the line, but honestly first gear goes by so fast that I doubt you'd even have a chance to hurt much.

when in terms of knocking back timing in our cars, we are talking terms of maybe 5* and enrichment of a few %. you do that instead of knocking back the boost, to keep the turbo turning.

you can get a box, 75611, i think, i have one for the 6al, you can program the launch limiter over time.. not timing......we are talking seconds. use your ems for timing control.

those boxes should be progamable. the 75611 only works with analog boxes.

launch control is not the be all end all. learn the car and make your setup work.
