LAUNCH AND 1/4 MILE TIME PROBLEMS??
Ok, i have been racing for 2 years now but only at track 2 times with new ride and rebuilt engine. see sign for details. i cant seem to get off the line, my 60' times are in the 2.45-2.7 range. and the car is only running 15.90's. i dont know what is wrong. i either spin the tires or wheel hop really bad. there is just no inbetween. front end of vehicle is completely tight, clutch is new exedy stage2, y8 tranny, 14" steelie's balanced, front end aligned, motor mount inserts(energy). any sugestions. it seems like if i give it 3/4 throttle it pulls better than full throttle at times. any ideas there. Flame away! thanks in advance for those who are accually try to help.
Best thing to do is visit the Drag Racing threads here on H-T. If you have been "racing" for 2 years but only been at the track 2 times, what kind of "racing" were you doing?
What do you hold your rpm at when your about to take off? cuase if you aint on slicks you better be around 3 grand, anything above that i realized that you will spin yo much. And also it takes time to get better on the drag strip, 2 times is noting. You havnt even been able to get a feel for it yet.
started at 2500 and wheel hopped, so i went up to 3200 and spun, dropped tire air pressure 2 pds and launched at 3200 and spun but not as bad. so i left it and tried to launch at 3000 but wheel hopped again.

Your 60' time isn't all that bad. Actually I think your 1/4 mi time is correct for a D16Z6.
If you're not happy with the time, try a different track when the air is cooler.

Repeat after me.... ride the clutch, don't dump it!!
It's probably against your instinct, but the quicker you learn to ride the clutch the quicker your 60fts are going to be. Before I gave up on just dumping the clutch i would get consistent 2.4 60 ft's, now that I have learned to ride the clutch off the line I get consistent 2.2 60 ft's on street tires.
Of course I am reffering to FWD cars.

you have to learn your car....back when i started i was horrible cutting like 2.7 2.6 60fts but after time once you learn your car and slipping clutch points you'll get the hang of it
ive cut 2.0 60ft's b4 with Nitto 450 which is the crappest tire none to man...it all takes practice
