Interesting article ....
Darr,
Thanks for responding on Honda-Tech. I meant no offense by my comments. I was, indeed, premature in asking if "anyone has seen this guy at an event", and apologize. I've checked around and you have certainly seen your share of drag racing.
Guys and girls on Honda-Tech, I suggest we all take Darr's offer of being a friend to Sport Compact Drag Racing, instead of an enemy, and communicate with him. Coverage on Drag Racing Online can only be a good thing.
I'm out of the country for a couple of weeks, but wanted to encourage everyone to have CONSTRUCTIVE communication with him. Here's a acknowledged "domestic" guy who wants to learn more about sport compact drag racing. Let's not turn him away.

I hope everyone don't forget their roots....Just a few years ago IDRC was the **** and now most of the pro racers have turned their backs on them. When was the last time you seen Steph or Lisa at a IDRC event????? Hell even a Battle event. Some people have gotten to big to race at IDRC or BOTI. Each to their own.

I still stand by my thoughts rom this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=911196&page=1

Watching the rev hard cars back in the late 90's is alot of what got me excited about this sport.Come on people lets bring this sport back to the racers IDRC and Battle are you listening!!!!!!!!!! Don't support something that doesnt care about you or your hobby. NHRA will cease to exist in the import world if people just stop going . Look at the street classes idrc/battle has created. WHY?? Becasue they care about us the little guy. NHRA </TD></TR></TABLE>
It will never be like the old days again. You either grow with it or walk away.

There are a few things you simply do not understand. The NHRA will not simply cease to exist because a few people quit going to the events. The NHRA has a few events that do not fare as well as some of the others, as well does the NDRA. Sure it may not look good on paper, and it may hurt the pride, but it will not shut them down. Most sanctioning bodies will change venues if one continually sucks for them, be it crowd, racers, or weather.
IDRC and BOI are strong org. for the street racers, but who has strived to get them notority, and given them a chance to run for a championship? As we all know, the money that is available for sportsman racers is nowhere near the pros, but we have made sure that contingency sponsors have stepped up, and have gotten most of the sponsors to participate in a year end awards package in the differant classes. There are also some Sportsman class racer trading cards floating around now. Jason Hunt, Brian Ballard, Matt Keller, Ali Afshar are all part of the Sportsman 9 sec club series.
I do not look down on any sanctioning bodies and do have friends in them all, but as you all know, I have my loyalties and will always help the NDRA and the sport to continue to grow. So, good luck to NHRA, IDRC, and BOI with the rest of thier seasons. See you guys in St. Louis, and if you can only attend one race this season, let it be the one that American Honda is filming a commercial at this weekend.

If the industry had been around for 50 something years then yes you could sell performance parts for imports for the prices that aftermarket companies sell their domestic stuff. The new Modular motor's from Ford are about the same technology as a Honda minus the vtec...and the guys going fast with those are not 17-24. If I could get a head cams package for my honda that cost anywhere near a head cam package for say an LS1, that would be great. The only company's manufacturing parts that are tried and tru that the average joe is willing to pay fore no questions asked are from japan and cost alot. A used head for a honda is more than an entire LS1 longblock used. A crate motor for a honda costs as much as a 502. To me this is why there are not as many "hardcore" guys that all the big companies are looking for. If the NHRA pulls out then I hope some other sanctioning body picks up the slack for those running in it.
