Default Ign cut box

Here is a listing of differant manufactures that produce IGN kill box's for WOT shifting. Some of these are made for motorcycles and also use an air powered cylinder/soleniods to make the actuall gear change at the transmission, while we wont be using that portion of things, i do belive we can use the IGN kill box's to better our ET's and improve consistancy.

If you have any usefull insight on making something like this work, please chime in and "wow" us with your wealth of electronic knowlege

The problem with all those bike boxes is you need something trick to trigger them. They just hit there horn button and activate the air shifter and cut box. WE still need to pull a lever. And thats all I would wnt to do. Not hit a button as well.

for what its worth dave, i had my ITS boost controller set up on the top clutch switch, and since i dont fully release the clutch sometimes it hung up on stages.

so i can see it (for me anyway) always be in power cut. because i rest my foot on the clutch pedal.

but it is a good idea i have the page marked. good find.

Why not use a strain gauge. Works a lot better im sure there are some people on here that can steer you in the right direction and make it work. When setup right it can work flawlessly.

that is the plan, just "weighing all options" ... if you will.

use straingage, then output to either my engine computer or one of these cut box's.. i just dont know what i want to do yet....

i havent yet ive been meaning to hit you up, to ask about this whole setup.

on this screen it looks like you can only set it up as "one setting fits all" ?

how will i be able to alter the signal from the straingage to the aem, so that it has a "usable" signal ?

by use of relay?

can relay's operate with less than 12v ? maybe there are "special ones" ??

does the aem have 1 or more inputs for this ign cut?

relays dont care what is being passed through them, they just complete a circuit

If you dont want to use a strain gage on the shifter, you can use a 0-1000psi pressure transducer "tee'd" into the clutch pedal line. You really only need like 1/2" travel to get around 100-200psi worth of pressure reading, which is enough to get a voltage reading for switch #7 in the AEM software. After defining switch #7 in the software, go to switch retard function and define the retard and cut amounts. It only took 2 passes to get it dialed on a customers car, and is probably the simpliest/cheapest method for ignition cut with AEM (assuming you are using AEM). There are other ways to have a shift cut if you are using the MSD digital 7 box. Hope that helps.

Why kill ign timing if you are using the clutch?

your not fully depressing the clutch, just enough to change the pressure in the line.
