How to preload drivetrain with 2step?
For all the people here who recommend preloading the drivetrain at the line, is it possible to do it with a 2step? If it is possible, what's the highest rpm it can be done at, cuz' holding the rpms at 8000 slipping the clutch seems like a killer for the clutch....
Also, when do you start your preload, when the other guy's staging lights turn on?

*Rob Schnider voice* You can do it!!!! *Rob Schnider voice* It won't be too bad on the clutch as long as you are only loading just enough to keep a little tension on the trans. Don't load it soo much that the *** end squats.

Stopid nood question , but I always here people talking about preloading the drivetrain. What does that mean and what does it do , just curious.......thanks
Not positive, but i think they mean once you get to the line, you let the clutch out right to the point where you can feel its just about to grab but it doesnt move the car yet. This way there is a little pressure on the internals and you go from some pressure to a lot of pressure over nothing at all to everything. Its probably easier on the trans.

i pretty sure a line lock is illegal to use when launching a car

Pre-loading: Hold the e-brake up, let clutch up just enough so you can feel the car pull, while holding the revs at what ever you want to launch at. You drop the cluth and the e-brake at the same time. Off you gooooo!

i think his question deals with the fact that the two step runs off of a clutch switch.. can you slightly let off the clutch to preload the drivetrain while still having the 2step activated keeping your rpms at your launch point.

If you dont use the ebrake you wont get much of a load at all. And you will probably pass the timer.

line lock holds brake pressure after you let off of the pedal until you let go of the button.. used on domestic cars to do burnout. most import guys just use a staging brake/e-brake

line locks are not illegal, they actually do not work as well for those of us relying on the front wheels, a staging brake is the way to go, but if you are gonna use a 2 step put the button on the brake handle!!
