How often to rebuild?
I asked this in the Allmotor forum ...but i thought it would get better answers in the drag forum ...how often do you pro guys and engine builder rebuild or motor ...when something breaks or goes wrong or after a certain amount of miles/runs ...the reason i ask is because im building a 13.5:1+ comp. 85mm Ls/vtec and my friend was argueing with me that im goin to have to rebuild after every run or after a day at the track and etc ...and i just wanted to get your inputs and also your methods on how you know when its time to rebuild ....any info would be appreciated ...
thanks
Joe
thanks

im no expert but id say wait until something goes wrong to rebuild it . you could go a while w/o it messing up , but at the same time you could blow it up w/ one miss-shift . why take it apart if its running fine ? i guess it depends on how well its assembled .

when you are on a pro level it is an entirely different story. the engines are built with components that are meant to provide extreme performance for a very short period of time. same reason nascar teams change their tires after 70miles but you put 30k on yours.
i ran an 86mm 13.5 piston last year with over 100 passes on it and never rebuilt it once. i took it apart a couple months ago and everything was clean as a whistle. dont listen to "your boy" or anyone else for that matter who have no clue what they are talking about.
thanks
