how much power needed for 135mph
I am building my 97 ek hatch and I plan to weigh in at about 2500 with driver and I was wondering about how much power I need to aim for to run 135mph in the 1/4
car will be b16 with 60-1 turbo running on 235/60-15 bias plys
lsd and looking for about 1.7-1.8 60ft
1/4 time not so important I just want the car to pull like a **** up top and if she runs 135mph that is fast to me

So far i'm at 121MPH in a full street trim Del Sol B16 w/ only 330HP and a 1.9 60ft... my best so far was a 1.8 but then I miss shifted so I don't know what it would have been in the end... LOL

There comes a point when dr's wont trap higher than slicks.
In the majority of the cases...dr's will trap higher. I trapped 121 on street tires, 118 on slicks. 128 on streets 124 on slicks. As you get near 140...it starts to inverse. I think this is because you're spinning the whole track...vs just the short end.

I'm at 127-128mph on my current setup running on 22x8x13 M&Hs. My slicks are dead though and I can feel the car loosing traction down track.
My last dyno I put down 448whp and my weight should be around 2400, but haven't verified.

We made 490hp , unstrapped it off the dyno and went to the track and ran 10.80@135 mph. The car still has more in it , the i/c piping popped off twice and we just left it there. This is a 93' Si hatch and it sits right at 2,400lbs w/ driver.

500-520whp for 140-142mph.
....but that's on a Mustang Dyno like ours.
I would say different power levels depending on your dyno...

don't take this the wrong way but wasnt your 750whp blue coupe trapping 149mph?

yea gotta love this post I believe this is just a simple post to me set my hp goal if you are anoid by this post dont click on it, it really is that simple by the way you cut at this post saying weight slick size and tranny are needed to figure this # but if you read the post you would clearly see that plenty of info was given weight is 2500 w driver no slicks but 235-60/15 bias ply tires no mention of transmission but from what I searched I should be ok with a b16 tranny to run 135mph in forth if I rev to about 9300+ wich is what I have planned for the build
Thanks everone else for helping set my goal it sounds like the target # is 550whp and if I make that 135mph should not be a problem

Why dont you just build the car, THEN worry about what it traps.. Dont worry about trap speeds, jeez...
I dont understand whats so hard about building a car, running it, and then answering yer own question..

It takes MORE power to run those types of speeds on the 235/60/15 's
It will take almost 575-600whp (dyno jet)@ 2500 to go 135mph. I dont think a 60-1 will make enough power in that car.

Yeah Rick has been down the track with those tires a couple of times
