Icon2 How to improve trap speed

Hi guys,

As topic says, at the strip with a turbo'd engine.

My friend has a turbo itr and his times are 11.7 @ 111mph

The mph seems too low for that time.

What can be wrong with the car?

He has a gt37r turbo with .82 ar hot side and 3"dp
JDM ITR Tranny with 4.4 fd and the car is making about 300hp

That trap speed shows he is driving the car very well for the ET, the short track times must be great.

Thanks for your quick replies,

I know with more power should increase trap speed but I was comparing his car with mine
When I use to run with the ITR.

Mine with the same power I went 11.5 @127mph that s why I thought 111mph it was a bit low

Thanks again

I would guess if you compared slips his 1/8 was better or just onto yours, and then your power carried you down the back half of the track. He does have less power then you correct?

Any pics of the car? I like foreign drag cars

You went 127mph in a Teg with 300whp? Sounds about 100hp on the light side are you comparing numbers from the same dyno?

The same power doesn't seem right, that's a lot of power worth of a difference especially if he is in a lighter EF chassis.

CLEAN looking cars

Something doesnt add up, it takes 400+whp (dynojet) in a stock weight Teg to run 125+ in the quarter from every setup I have seen in this country.

yeah make more power. His time is relevant to his traction. Meaning he got off the line quick as hell and had traction the entire time. Just like my sentra went 11.1@132mph, 132 trap is good for 10.3-4 range with proper traction but thats just it. I didnt have it. I was spinning the 7 year old completely worn slicks until the 1/8th mile.

Some say the worse traction you get the higher your trap, in a way its true up until a point. The night i went out as i got more traction i would still trap higher. First pass was 11.6@128, then 11.4 at 130 and then 11.1@132, no changes to boost or power.

So traction is also a big factor of trap speed again up to a point. Im hoping to be in the 140-145mph traps with 550whp in my 2080 lb sentra. Im going out on brand new 24.5X9X13's and after it cools down.

But tell your buddy in the teg good driving to pull that time with a 111mph trap speed. Again unless he let off and hit the brakes before the end of the 1/4 causing the low trap. Thats the only other way. But his 1/8 mile will tell the complete story of what happened. with my 132mph trap my 1/8 mile was 102mph just to give you an idea

If you guys are both running the same weight cars with the same hp/similar powerband (assuming) and the 1/8th mph is similar I bet your friend backed out of the gas a little early causing the mph to drop a good bit.
