Default horrible experience

I was just wondering if there were other people out there that feel that they are descriminated at the drag strip because they have a import? yesterday I went to woodburn dragstrip for the last day of race season. I got there about 8:45am, and stayed till 3:30pm.... during that whole time I was allowed to run two times.... my buddy brought his 04 gto that puts down 603rwhp at about 11:30, he left befor I did and some how was allowed to run 5 times. I was so pissed, every one was being a bunch of A$$ holes about everything. I can honestly say it makes me wanna go out and buy the worlds biggest ugliest body kit and give every one at the track the finger. my car is clean, and reasonably fast, but just because its different then the classic small block chevy it isn't excepted.

sorry if I sound like a little bitch. but It was just a sh!tty day for me.

word. I mean don't get me wrong. If I could afford one, I would have a nasty corvette, have always been a sbc guy at heart, It just sucks to see how closed minded people are these days. same thing goes with alot of the local VW guys too. its like, ya the whole rice **** was 5-10 years ago.... get over it.

Was your buddy on slicks? Sometimes there are fewer slick-tired cars vs street-tired cars at my local TNT. When they alternate back and forth every 45 minutes or so, the guys in the shorter lanes will get more passes than the street tire guys.

...yet another benefit to running slicks at my local track!

I dunno, maybe they're not all out to get you.

we were both running slicks... the way the had it classified it was sportsman class, pro, jr dragsters ... etc...

he should have technically been kicked out to for running 11.26 with no cage. but they had no problems with that.. happy for him, but not for me. I had two of the worst runs I have ever done. It was just plain embarrassing. probably why it bugs me so bad that I couldn't get more runs in.

I've never had an issue. You guys are in a lane, they call the lanes one at a time? I can't see how they can call a lane and miss you? If you really feel that you were being singled out, call and speak to the track owners. No track in today's economy is going to turn away business, especially import business.

Welcome to Woodburn. That track has history, and most of it doesn't involve imports. The wierd thing is that I haven't really heard of that happening to someone although I don't find it suprising. I'm waiting for more of the Oregon people to chime in. I'm not sure how much Gringotegra races there he might have some insight for you, but I know if you want a more friendly import environment you have to go to PIR. It is a little drive for you though. Battle was pretty sick at Woodburn this year though

I know that guy, he has the green integra that runs on e85 right?
ya pir is def more import orentated. I have been to woodburn befor on import days, its just when its v8 day every one turns into ********. I got yelled at by some old bag for being in the wrong lane, and he told me to go to this other lane, then some other old bag yelled at me for being in that lane. by that time I was just fed up and went home. just sucks cause the last time to run for the season I pulled a 13.5 at 113.... I just wish I had some more oppertunity to get dialed in on driving my new motor...

ive been racing at woodburn for about 7 years now, they have always welcomed imports. i live about 5 minutes from the track. livingston and my grampa used to go at each other in division 6 back in the 60's.

i usually go on the sunday et drags which is their own little points series...when the true bracket racers are there. were usually the only import in the pro class (10.00 to 11.99) and all they do is acknowledge the slicks on the front of the car instead of the rear.

to be honest i have only raced in two import events in 7 years. et drags are the days to go race.

Sorry to hear about your day.

But,

What you need to do is draft up an email, read it before you send it, present your case as and adult and see how the track responds.

Venting here is one thing, but to get satisfaction you need to talk to the track.

Good Luck

PIR is way more import friendly...infact i think they are way more friendly all around! I was supposed to go yesterday but sheering my ringgear on friday night didnt help me at all...

i dont know how well you know me but if you ever see me anywhere im pretty much talking to everyone ... ive found out that when you talk to the track staff and become friends with them they tend to treat you better...

Woodburn does have that reputation though...when you go to the import challenge's they bairly prep the track!! they really dont care about imports that much...

Make a trip up to PIR a friday night or saturday night man...its worth it...the track itself is not that bad!! put it this way i was able to cut a 1.988 60ft on STREET TIRES there on friday night...then i shifted into 2nd and there went my ring gear ... i was actually cutting better 60ft times at PIR on slicks than i was at woodburn during BATTLE... that might say something there...

If you are planning on coming up to PIR any one of these days PM me and ill meet you there

Im in the middle of hillbilly town in ohio and our local track is about the same way. there is 7 staging lanes and they pull them 6 at a time from 2 lanes next to each other, sounds like everyone one would get the same amount of runs right? you do until they quit letting your lanes go and only let the permanent numbered cars go....the worst part is, most of the imports are faster than 5.0s and 350s....its so bad I dont even go to test and tune anymore. I'd love to send an email, but Im pretty sure the owners dont even know what a computer is.

im just saying that the car was not at 460whp when he came out that night or else he would have completly demolished my 350whp stock motor integra,,,which he didnt.... i dont race for money...its not worth it....have him come up to the track and race on it like real racers...

i think the earilest you can race is 6pm..

i run over here in madras, Oregon. Its just an 1/8th mile track. But it is a blast. As long as you show respect, you get respect. they like it when i show up so there can be some freindly wager at the lights. I think you should talk to Mr. Livingston, the owner of woodburn. He is a good guy. Also at my track we get about 10-15 runs if you want them. It is very fun and freindly.

When you go next time race in a class cause you are guranteed 3 runs to qualify and at least one round of brackets.

i feel your pain man. theres only like 3 imports at the track in indy the rest are old stangs and camaros and ****..... whenever my friend with a mkII 2jz pulls up there like "wow hope that thing makes it down the track..." then he runs 11 second passes and they all quiet down. the only way to shut up domestic lovers is to beat them at the only thing there good at, and that is drag racing!!!!

were you in your lanes the whole time??? i've never had this problem and have raced imports at woodburn for 6 years now. the track personnel arent the ones that discriminate though, some of the domestic drivers are down right a$$holes, and it only gets worse when you start handing them their a$$es all day.

x2. i love owning the domestic guys. They all expect to walk all over the imports. Its soooo much fun putting them in their place!

see thats where you guys lose your respect is talking trash cause you think your faster. These guys love to drag race as do i. I show them respect they give me the same. I dont show up revving and making my BOV go off. i go up there and bracket race with them and give them respect.

These older guys have been around forever and they like it when you go up and ask questions on how to race and show intrest in the sport. Not in how much faster you are than they are. Go bracket racing for 3 weekends in a row and show how much you love the sport and they will respect the **** out of you for supporting the sport.

Here is my best experince to date. At Madras speedway in Madras, OREGON. I was running 7.90's all day at a test and tune in my wifes turboed h22 hatch (1/8th mile) This guy in a semi built C5 corvette on DR's asked me to line up against him ( he runs 8.0's all day but is killer at the tree) we get up to the tree i light up the pre stage bulb as does he. he then trys to have a staging battle but i finally just stage as does he. I cut what i think is a killer light ( they pay 200$ for best light of the day) and i jump off the line on him. i am on a very good pass and i look in my side mirror and he is pulling me in like i am barely moving as we get to the finish i have a fender on him i think. I let him get on the return road first as you are supposed to. We get up to the booth to get our slips and he stops and grabs both. I get up there and they said he asked for mine also well after the booth there is enoigh room to pull over if you want to watch some runs. He pulls over as do i. He gets out and i go over to him to say great race and he hands me the white slip. The winning slip. I look at it and i cut a .501 light to his .507 (perfect .500) my 60ft was 1.78 his 1.85. My 1/8th was 7.89 to his 7.88. He was so excited that when i shook his hand he said the was the greatest race of his life. That whole day i showed respect and never acted like a outsider or like i was better than any others.

I am just saying you need to show respect like your elders did. these guys have been doing this for 30+ years.

Sorry for the rambling. I just know that woodburn does not descrimnate to imports.
