I went to class yesterday (autobody) and i took my car in to finish up some touches. And this one guy who knows somewhat about cars but BS's alot was telling me that if i went to the track they would make me take my hood locks out because if i crash or my engines catches fire they cant open it. I was wondering if this is true or not. Has anyone gone to the track with hood locks?

i see a lots of people with hood locks at the track before.

 

it shouldnt matter. what if you wreck and the hood crushes to where you can't open it... lock or not wouldn't matter.

 

if you're running the latch, you should be okay. if not, i would consider pins because locks are more for security protection than securing down your hood.

the little metal pin on each side is what keeps it from coming up. i would suggest using the latch too.
