Default getting sponsored

Hey guys and gals,

My name is John Cunningham and I have a big ?. Me and a good friend of mine have had the dream of racing for a long time now. Finally, all the cards are in the right place. We have had a car for a while now but never had the opportunity to go anywhere with it. Just recently we were able to open our own shop. With that being set we started working on the car. The previous owner was very car illiterate and blew both the No. 1 and No. 4 cylinders. We gave the engine a moment of silence and then pulled it. The interior has been completly stripped. We have big plans for this baby but funds are low. I guess i should let you know what kind of car it is huh. It is a 92' Prelude Si. I know what you are thinking. That car weighs more than my explorer. Like i said it is a work in progress. What I would like to ask is if anyone knows how we could go about getting sposored. Any help would be apreciated. Wish us luck. If you have any ?'s about what we plan on doing for the build up just ask. Thanks

dude... the only way you are gonna get sponsored is to have a fast car and break some people off..... if getting sponsorship was that easy.... marketing would be a disaster.

99% of the time you have to first build the car before you get sponsors.. id pick an easier platform to begin with.. what class are you aiming for?

Good luck, dude. Only way I can see you picking up sponsors out of thin air is if you operate some heavily trafficked PR5+ car-related website. You could pitch to your potential sponsors that you'd give them a feature article spot on the front page of a site that gets 50k uniques a day or something like that. They'd be crazy NOT to sponsor you in that case. But even then, it'd be highly unlikely.

I can think of numerous teams that have defied this... RJ devera supposedly has a large sponsorship deal and hasn't raced yet...

and the polar opposite of this is Gary Gardella, Leslie Durst, L'Natural... blah blah more! that have shown they are top teams and havn't locked down a Major Sponsor... what a backwards way of life...

I would love to use our shop as a sponsor but we have only been open for like a month and business isnt what you would call booming. I appreciate all the advice and criticism. I guess i needed the slap in the face . Regardless I will keep looking . I also got five lottos tonight so maybe I will get that 215 mill. If I do i'll sponsor all who gave advice hehe. Thanks alot guys seriously. If you hear of anything let me know.

Spend money on building the business, instead of dumping cash on a racecar.

he didnt build a racecar.. but think of the show cars he has built.. and he is a lot more well known thanks to superstreet than most racers.. so RJ has a reason to get sponsors without a car..
