Default G-Force Trans

Just got back from our local track....The car didnt move 2 inches from the start line!....

Our only change from our low 9' setup is:

26's to the 28's(the reason for this change: I run out of gear in 4th at the 1000')
and a brand new gear set......

POOOOF! I broke the hub(weird)the sleeve(normal) and snapped the first gear in three pieces(really weird)

I knew this was going to happen so I decided to put together a brand new trans but I figured it would last atleast 2-4 passes not one...

With our recent new-found power increase I never figured it would make that big of a change on the drive line....but it did....

So back to the title...G-force

$18,000 dollars with Bellhousing and shifter....any ratio's...any splines for the clutch....and half down. The bellhousing and case can be shipped immediately and the rest comes in 6-8weeks.

Has anyone priced it before or has any purchased it yet?

I am on the fence here...I can scrap the FWD and move to Modified with our engine combo or dont do anything at all....

This is crazy! this class should not be like this.....

Hopefully Tony or Gary can chime in for me.....Im losing hope!

Howard

I am kinda on the fence too, I was looking at the g-force but for that kind of money why not the x-trac that peeps are talking about. i havent heard anything on the G-force yet...In the mean time I pulled off the 28"s and bought some 26's (tranny would bearly last one pass). Ive been looking at that pweety CTC dog box for 7-8k for everything including reinforced casing. But will that break too...and how long before the axles start breaking also. I race out of pocket so $$ is def. a factor...why are these parts so bloody expensive???

Anyone who sells a straight cut gear set w/o doing the ring and pinion as a straight cut should be shot! The helical cuts oppose themselves...lol...so when the gears are done the ring and pinion push against the case twice as much as before! Liberty is doing a straight cut ring and pinion....But I still believe youll need a stronger case....

As far as the XTRAC....the dollar amount is alot higher...

From my understanding the Bothwell team didnt utilize a slipper clutch at the time they tested the trans....which the XTRAC also requires...this is what I hear...

Come on Tony or Gary put some advice out for this....

Actually the helical suck the gears together more than the straight taking some of the load off of the case(at least that is what I have been told) . Also Liberty has scraped there straight cut ring and pinion for there gear set in favor of a helical.

We ran straight cut gears for the first part of the season supposedly a unbreakable dog box. We broke it.

I have been studying both the X-trac and the G-force for some time now and would have to say that I would go with the G-force with a slipper clutch.

The biggest problem with the Honda trans is the bell-housing. I do not care if you run titanium gears the cases will still crack. there are a couple of companies that are working on making a bullet bell-housing. However none are done yet.

Wassup Howard,
Take that money and go ahead and run modified/outlaw.
You can run waaaaaaaayyyy faster for waaaaaaaayyyyy cheaper.Plus we could use another car in the modified class.Do i smell a Paradise Racing/AR Fab friendly rivalry about to form?????

What ever you decide to do good luck. This damn FWD stuff is real expensive for the speed and times you'll get in return.
SEE YA

Ok, the CTC straight cut gearset is complete with straight cut ring and pinion. Unfortunately, with the power these cars are making, I don't know if it's the wisest investment. It's roughly half the price of the xtrac, and definitely won't last half as long. It's geared more toward a sport fwd power/tire setup. Having used the xtrac, I can honestly say that i'd put it in my own car if I had one. It's great, having a tranny that is built for racing. Full throttle shifting, no boost loss on shifts, STRONG, and lightweight. It can be used with or without a slipper clutch. It will work better with a slipper, but Brian and Kenny both run a tilton carbon and it's working for them. I know it's alot of money, but if you're serious about racing then it's an investment. After fighting with stock trannys, bringing 4 of them to each race, losing races on trans failures, and rebuilding them every race, you can easily justify the money. It's all the same in the end...

COOL .... I was wondering if they were using the CC Tilton....This makes me happy....I know a slipper would be better....but with having to mess with to many things already I dont think adding another varible into the mix is wise yet.

I spoke with Mike from G-Force for close to an hour a few minutes ago....He is goin to send me a bellhousing and a G-Force trans case to see what I think. So far the only hang-up that I see is on the passenger side our ProDrive or MarkWilliams axles wont fit...the case is to close to the opening for the splines...so you have to have a custom alxe made for that side...which he says is not that big of a deal...

The shifter is a cable driven V-Gate shifter....the other thing is that the trans is an actual clutchless box. You dont need to 2step the shift. He told me that the first couple of shifts need to be a couple thousand rpm sooner than normal to get a feel for the car and then just move the rpm up the ladder...

The bellhousing that G-force makes for their trans is close to the factory style...using the same flywheel and starter. Also has the rear mounting holes in the bellhousing too...

LOL.....
All I wanna do is CLUTCH...BANG....BANG....BANG! sounds like that MPEG with the stick figures!
