If a full tube chassis is what you want. That is not a project that you just whip up in the garage. there are only a handfull of guys that are proven to build one to date, that have run down the track. Nuformz is the most well know, followed by Kens Kustom Chassis, and Rooman Enterprises. Fabman on this forum is in the process of building one for Leevon that looks very nice, and Bob Norwood is doing Rados new car. You are probably looking at spending at least 75,000 to 100,000 dollars to build a car from scratch, complete. Like I said, not just somethink you whip up in the garage...

There are lots of places to have them made.

The GM cars and a couple Hondas were all built 10 minutes from my house here in Indy by Rooman. Send me an IM if you would like their number.

100g is a little out of my budget, so how hard is it to do from the firewall forwards?

How about this. What are your plans for your car? Once you have that decided, then you need to look for a chassis shop local to you, that has done work on a FWD car before and talk to them, to see what you are looking at price wise. there are a lot of guys out there with a welder, plasma cutter, and tube bender. But that doesn't mean they know what they are doin. Heck, I have access to all that stuff, does that mean I am a chassis builder? Look at references. Talk to people and get their opinions. Like in making something.. Measure twice, cut once. Get multiple opinions, write one check. Save yourself time and money, and do research..

I got a pretty good deal on my full chassis from John Brown. Just look around, you dont have to spend 100k on a car that is just far out ****. Maybe for a full carbon body. IMO I dont even know people are going carbon when fibre glass and even sheet metal is light and strong enough.
