The Full Mile?
I just had to post this question because I'd really like a answer :O I've been checking more and more full mile races lately and I genuinely saw not a single Civic on the Mile.... So I figured that there should be a reason behind that? I am stupidly curious to see how quick a lets say 400-600hp civic do the full mile so I can compare it with results of others, I mean like the engines would be more than capable of holding up for the full mile I assume
Any specific reason(s)?
Thanks in advance

I don't know if this is the real reason why but the last time I saw a civic do a mile race it caught wind and flipped. Plus what about gearing? Maybe someone else can help out
honestly don't know about a FULL mile.. but PM myles about how his turbo integra is holding up. I'll give it a shot this year too if i have money left over to fix all my aero concerns.

I am pretty sure a boosted honda will do great in a 1 mile race, I am stationed in Germany, and we race on the Autobahn for much longer distance than a mile, and usually the cars people expects to be fast gets left playing catch up. a Integra LS 5th gear does wonders on top end races. Just need the right tires and suspension setting.
5th gear and hi boost and revs is making some serius heat. That heat needs to be taken in to account when building and tuning the engine. Build a BIGass cooling system. I don´t know but 500 and up horsepower and at WOT in 5th gear for any longer periods of time will kill alot of engines.
Hmmm a friend of mine took part in the 30 -130 event in the UK but they give you a full 1 1/2 miles to run top speed, he managed 181 mph in a Del Sol making 700 flywheel HP, it was raining and no traction till the somewhere in 4th and this was with an LS 5th.
Car was fine just need subtle aero mods and good heat management so can be done.

since gearing is an issue at the 1/4 for an R trans, id say regardless of which option you have youre going to run out of usable power limited by gearing more than likely before the 1/2 mile..
I've running the autobahn here in Germany for over 12 years, and when I was daily driving my honda, my average speed were 120mph for very long hauls, never had any problems except crappy precision turbos falling apart. me and my boy used to take down some really expensive cars in their own environment. when they wanted to shut someone up from bad talking hondas they used to call us to meets. boosted hondas loves the autobahn, (oil cooler is needed).
A Honda can do more than people think they can, a guy on h-t once told me it was impossible for a Honda to go over 158 mph, I was puzzled for a while wondering if the porsche I had just beat weren't really doing 290kph. then I realized he lives in the US the fastest he can go without getting a ticket or hitting his brakes because of traffic is 70mph lol. my car feels stable and handles great at high speeds, maybe it has something to do with the great quality of the autobahn, and my overkill suspension.

no need for all that nonsense, suspension and tires is the key. I know someone will disagree, but I've been doing this for many years and never installed and useless aero or body kits, cars stay stable and fast.
