First, DRO missed the call on the engine in the Scranton Brothers Toyota. Jeff Burk called it a four-cylinder when it is in reality actually an inline six (2JZ Toyota Supra) engine. Our apologies to Matt Scranton and Tirso San Juan. Editor Burk was very impressed with the fact that those two turbocharged six-bangers were the first in history to qualify for a Pro Mod shoow.
So impressed, in fact, that DRO suggests that the folks in charge invite Scranton and San Juan as a couple of the four wild card entries that will invited to the first AMS/TLR event in March at the Gainesville. Want to really open up Pro Mod to all fans and racers? Bring in the imports! (Steve Gruenwald photo) [12-21-2004]

They need to bring back the V8 imports.....the Tundra....and the Celica.....I think Nelsons old Focus was an 8...(i think)
The ProMod rules state twin 101mm and max 540cu" motors.....wow, what can you do with that!
Twin 101's = 2000hp each! dam

I'm pretty sure that Nelson's old Focus had the six cylinder Ranger motor in it. I could be wrong, but I think that I remember reading that some where.
What ever happend with the Turbonetic's car that the Scranton's were racing their first year in the NHRA?

it was definitely a v-6, it ran twin turbos with seperate efi cpu's for each bank of cylinders.
there was also Tatatoshi Wakita, running the lexus with the overhead-cam v8 truck motor in it... it would be cool to see those guys running pro mod.

It would be cool. I hate to the hater but they will be way off pace. Nitrous cars now have an unlimited C.I. motors and the blower cars have been bumped back up to 29% OD, up from 20% last year. If any of the nitrous teams take advantage of the new rule I bet we'll see something in the 6.0's this year out of them. The blower cars will dip into the 6.0's regularly, and a few will probably break into 5's. Sorry but I don't think the imports will be able to hang, it'll be hard to compete against equal set-ups on bigger inch motors.
Nelson's Focus had a 3.8 liter motor from a supercharged Thunderbird. Don't know what happened to Paisley's truck motor, but he still ran the chassis with a 2JZ in it up until last year. As far as I know, the Turbonetics Celica is actually for sale right now, or was up until recently.
