Default Florida events in May...?

I will be vacationing in orlando may 18-25th, and I saw that there are two events in FL. on the weekend oif the 17th. One Nopi in Tampa, and one NHRA in Gainesville.

So, lets say that I could convince the wife to let me go to one of them, which one should I go to? and how long of a drive is it from Orl, to Tampa or Gainesville?

anybody going to be at either of these races?

Orlando to Tampa, is roughly 2 hours, Orlando to Gville is about 3 hours, maybe more.

If you wanna watch real racing i think NHRA would be the better choice. i would drive the extra hour to see all the Big Boys. I will be at NHRA gainsville. I got a part time job as event staff from NHRA sport compact and let me say, NHRA sport compact guys are not only professional but great to hang out with.

i am still undecided on wich event i will attend.. my car should be back together by then but there are so many rules and stuff at nhra that it makes me want to go to the nopi one, since they got less rules and regulations i think my car would be better off there...

So many rules for the saftey of you and the people there. NHRA is the BEST most professional sanctioning body. Rules are there not for NHRA's sake but for the sake of you and everyone else. This is what divides the ricers fron the real RACERS.i know rules arte tough but its there for a reason.

I totally understand what you are saying and by no means was i saying that NHRA sucks, i think it is far more competitive and safe than any other. I am trying to be able to make it legal for both sanctions but i think i have to go to the nopi becasue that is where the other shop car is going to go and it would suck to split up and go 2 different ways..

Let me makes this clear for those of you that don't know whats going on. The actual 1/4 track is located here in Bradenton (which is about 30 miles of TAMPA), another town south from Tampa. As big as Tampa is, they don't have a 1/4 track at all. I really don't know why Nopi keeps screwing this up. From Orlando is exactly 2 hours to get to the track.

Nopi is aware of this at the present moment, but screw up when it was press release.

Not really, I know Nopi is paying more than NHRA, so alot of the big boys do tend to go towards who pays more. Either way, for the past 5 years, 90% percent of the time when the big boys visit Florida, they end up going home win-less/or scratching their heads. Alot of the Puerto Ricans teams usaully gives them a run for the money as well with locals. Same thing in New Jersey.

Last year when NHRA came to Gainsville, the AEM Civic was shock when they got walk by a '80 "no-big sponser local" Corolla coupe' . But then again, RWD vs FWD I don't consider fair in my book.

yeah, that was rosado racing in palm beach florida that whooped papa. the car was like 2300lbs with driver and is only back 1/2 chassis. that car could be street driven very easily and he beat papa weighing in at 1650 with driver. what an upset!!
