First time at the track ever
Not the best of days, Ran a 13.7, 110.72 trap, .091 Reaction Time, 2.568 60 FT Time at 2500 feet on 12 PSI ( B16 ). Figured id share my bad day. Found a bolt that backed its way out from the mani to the turbo housing... didnt get full boost till 6K ( normal is around 5K )
Lol first time at the track and it's a bad day...
You could certainly do better, and you could certainly do worse.
The first time you ever banged a chick I'm sure you weren't Peter North...just like your first time at the track you aren't going to be Chris Miller
It's just like bangin chicks, practice makes perfect...practice as much as you can!

thats not horrible. youve got the mph to run 12s easily, get that 60' down to the 1.8 range on slicks and youre going to be mid 12s.
what was your 1/8 mi time and mph?

I figure with better tires and traction bars ( possibly better axles ) I could just dump the clutch and go... wheel hop was TERRIBLE!! Broke the clips on my climate control and it fell onto my shifter!
I would say never to just "dump the clutch". Shocking the drivetrain, as you should know is bad.
there are guys with alot of hp running fine on stock axles. Got to learn how to drive it, thats what it boils down to it.

I can drive the car fine, was just nervous, first time at the track. As far as "dumping the clutch" the drivetrain can take it. The wheel hop was just horrible, scared me for a sec never had it that bad on the streets
It happens to most if not all Of us first time at the track. Alot different then the street. I did a 13.7 at 120 in sac with a 2.89 60' first time on the track in 8 years, now that's embarrassing. I've done better since lol
Oh and if your not racing anyone, just wanting to get a good time on your car, I wouldn't worry about reaction time. Go when youre ready

The drivetrain may take it for a little while, but anyone in here with track experience will tell you its not going to last as long as it could. Dumping the clutch is not good period, at least put some sort of load on the drivetrain so that it will not be shocked once you do dump the clutch.
As others have suggested, learn how to preload the car, invest in traction bars and rubber. get that 60' down and you should see a low mid low 12
Preload the car?? So just by guessing press the gas down, slightly have the clutch engaged and hold the ebrake? Then let the clutch out and drop the ebrake at the same time?

exactly work on your short track get you 60 ft down and that will most def give you some better times...and preloading takes some stress off the drivetrain
