Default Finally raced with the new setup...

A bit slower than expected but I ran pretty consistant through the night.

16.071
15.737
15.729
15.711
15.588
15.550
15.490 @ 91.97

Stock JDM ITR swap in a 96 Civic EX chassis. Full interior, 2 12" subwoofers in the trunk along with the spare tire, 2 ton hydraulic jack, tool kit, and air compressor. Exhaust was really restricted going from a 2.5" header collector to like a 1.25" stock catalytic and B piping with a bad exhaust leak where the header meets the cat. Obviously they dont line up perfect lol 2.5" - 1.25". Then I had a Comptech short ram intake. My wheels also weigh quite a bit. Who the hell puts 17" wheels on a Civic IDK? I bought new wheels and tires which come out to 31.8lbs a wheel vs the 37.03 with the wheels I ran with. 5.23 weight saving x4 20.92lbs. I was told that 5lbs of weight shaved in the wheels is like having 20lbs shaved from the car? Then a new intake pipe is on the way to use my Ice Box intake system from Comptech to get cold air again. Getting rid of the hydraulic jack for a stock scissor jack. Also getting rid of the 2 12" subs for 1 10" sub. Then 2.5" high flow cat and 2.5" custom mandrel bent exhaust is on its way. Hopefully this stuff will get me in the low 15's maybe hit a 14.9. Then a tune. Probably didnt help that I had almost half a tank of gas. 5 gallons in the tank after my last run I tried to plan my trip out so I would get to the track with maybe a gallon and a half but its hard to judge my gas mileage over a 100mile trip to get to the track.

What's the break down on the slip of your best pass? Just work on your 60' you have the mph to be in the high to mid 14's

The fastest run didnt have the best 60' time but it was pretty close. 60' times disappointed me and reaction time I didnt care too much about because I was going to race myself for my own times to compare to my last setup.

RT: .555
60': 2.516
330: 6.718
1/8th: 10.120 @ 72.95
1000: 13.009
1/4: 15.490 @ 91.97

Street tires running 22PSI
always preloaded launch
5000RPM launch would just spin them
4500RPM would chirp and hook
the lower RPM launches I did got me the 15.7's

Ya you definately can make that 60' alot better. On street tires in my b16 I would cut a 2.2 which isn't that good. Get some nice drag radials or slicks and you'll be deep in the 14's

Could I hit 14's with street tires though? I wanted to be able to drive to the track, maybe add race gas if I had a tune for it and change tire pressures on the tires I drove there with. Maybe playing around with tire pressures I could launch at 5k? If I recall street tires dont need to be heated and lowering the tire pressure more than 5PSI below the recommended wont make it grip better? Suspension plays a role too. Everyone said the back would squat when i took off. Maybe stiffer rear springs would help keep more weight on the front tires for the 5k launch?

Don't worry about race gas right now. Upgrade all the bolt ons, and get a dyno tune from someone reputable. Then get some stickier tires and upgrade your suspension. You should get down to mid/high 13's.

I am still wondering how much power can be gained from a dyno tune on stock JDM B18C-R with bolt ons. For $400 whats the power increase we are looking at? Cash flow right now isnt the greatest but I'm trying to do a Koni/GC setup.

How do they tune on a street tune? Hook up a wideband and ride in the car with me or something? And tune as we go?

Yea, pretty much. Won't get quite as good of a tune because they can't really dial in ignition timing, but still works out pretty good. It would also save time on the dyno, pay someone $100 to street tune it, than pay $150 for an hour on the dyno and you would have a good tune for $250.

Street Tuning is very easy. If you have the tools to do it yourself it's not hard.

Is something amiss? 91mph traps with a JDM C5 swap? Granted the car weighs a bit but I went 13.97 @ 97mph with a USDM C5 swap in a 97' EX coupe and it couldn't have weighed much more than 100lbs. than your car. Something doesn't seem right. Without all that crap in the back and street tires, car should go low 14's with a novice driver. If you don't see at least 95mph traps, something is definately wrong.

1st, 2nd and 3rd pulled pretty good then 4th was slow for some reason and people would catch me or walk away once I hit 4th. IDK if this seems logical to others but I figured the exhaust gasses trying to go through that stock 1.25" catalytic and B piping was restricting it? Then it had a major exhaust leak where the header meets the cat. I'm hoping its my exhaust restricting it making me run those times because I couldnt do anything different to make it go faster. I could have gotten better reaction times but that doesnt affect ET. My shifts where perfect and the pedal was to the floor so its the motor that was slacking. I have 2 different sets of Iridium plugs a 6 heat range and a 7 heat range. I was running the 6 because thats what the factory called for. Dont know if the colder range would help any. I think a lot of it has to do with the extra weight I'm carrying. My wheels are some heavy SOB's. The subs weight maybe 75lbs, then a 2 ton hydraulic jack and spare has to be like 50lbs, tool kit with air compressor was probably 30lbs. 155lbs extra, every 100lbs is .1 seconds. Someone said wheels being rotating mass 5lbs is like 20lbs on the body. So thats like I'm carrying another 100lbs more than the new wheels I bought. With that changed on paper that would be like me running a 15.2? Still slow but I would have been happier

What transmission are you running? And a tune could easily give you 20whp. Highly recommended.
