Default Engine Builders: Oil Expander Ring Overlap???

Rushing to get this motor done for the race next weekend. JE 84.5mm pistons with their rings. All the other rings are on the money except for the oil expander which is overlapping when I put it in the bore. Can I cut it to fit? Never had this problem before in all the motors I've built. Thanks!

Sounds like you got the wrong set. Be careful because if they were for a larger bore and you cut them down, they will not be perfectly round for your bore size.

Thanks for the reply, thats kind of what we are thinking that they put the wrong expanders in the ring set becuase the rest of the rings are fine. Calling JE on monday to overnight some expanders

The wiggly thing? Or the flat oil rings?

make sure you have the part number from the bag the oil rings were in. They can tell you if that is the wrong part.

I'm holding a ring installation instruction sheet for a set of Je file fit rings and these are butted not overlapping. However I've used oil rings that do overlap, you better go on there website or wait to talk to someone on monday on the phone. It sucks when situations like that come up and your in a hurry.
