There's currently only one station down near San Diego, but its not open to the public.

However you can make your own and its not very expensive, about $2.00 (or less) a gallon to make yourself.

Honesty I am seriously interested in this as it runs cooler and we won't be as effected by the high temps during the summer with this cool burning fuel and can run more timing than are gasoline competition.

I was looking at buying a completed still. If you SERIOUS about this, PM me.

I rather make my own 105 octane than buy $6 racing unleaded...

If you are going to make your own, why not just run E100?

SD is the only place in SoCal that has it available to the public.

Check out http://www.e85fueling.com for updates.

They are supposed to open at least 11 more stations in the LA/Ventura area but I haven't seen a timeline for deployment.

I guess people like us will just have to drive down to SD and fill up a 55gal drum or two

I don't know if you can make E100???

I just did a google seach on E85 about 2 months ago and found that site, it only covered making E85. Which c'mon 105 octane is just fine, this going to be a SS car, not a AM car, its not going to be 14:1 compression.... Maybe 12:1 later on, but that's within this fuels window of operation.

Also wouldn't be more expensive to drive down to SD with a drum and pay whatever it is a gallon to fill it up and then drive all they back to the Valley???

My problem as ALWAYS is storage. I really don't have an area I can put a still. Maybe the backyard, but I wanted to run it off natural gas to burn the mash. I don't know what zone rules you would run into at a shop for example, but shop space is insanly expensive in LA. I imagine its fine as long as your shop was zoned for auto motive repair for example.

I just did a quick search and it seems some of the makers of E85 do ship, but finding more info is iffy at best right now. One place in NoCal sells Bio-Diesel by the 55 gallon drum, okay but we don't race Cummings, PowerStroke or Duramax trucks...

I had an idea of an alt fuel race team YEARS ago....
