I am about to go to a dyno shop and break in my motor and get it tuned.
What does the mechanic have to know?

X2
If you dont trust them then dont go there
,,,the tuner needs to know everything possible about the car in order to do his job right and to know the limits of the motor.

It's best for you and for them if they can know everything possible to help give you the best tune. I like to know absolutely everything about a motor before I tune it on a dyno. The best solution would be to find another place...or ask them what they need/want to know.

I agree with you about they should know everything to get the BEST possible tune.
BUT the OP didn't want to give away his secrets. There seems to be a story behind why HE wants to do this.
I have seen this situation first hand between a engine builder and their not so regular tuner.
