Default Drag Radials Advice............

Hey. The more I look at other people's timeslips, the more I realize I need better tires... right now, I'm running 14.7@96mph with consistent high 2.35-2.39 60' times. I was thinking about getting another set of Rota C8's and mounting some sticky rubber on there. I was just reading the post below about the GeForce T/A's, and they seem to be the general consensus for drag radials right now.

So the reason i'm posting is, what size are you guys running? I don't know much about drag radials -- would 215/50/15 be a decent setup? I'd like them to be able to handle up to 200whp -- I should be around that output by the end of summer.

Alot of people are gonna disagree with the choice of tire I made, but I went with Nitto 555r 205/55/14 and they grip good for me. I put down 171whp and 165ft pds tq. I pulled 2.0x in the 60'. Consistent low 14's in a full interior coupe. Before I had them i was only pulling a pathetic 2.6-2.7 60' and times were only in the high 14's to low 15's. That was really disappointing. The Nitto's performance really surprised me.

That is the exact same size I'm running, very happy with them, pull low 2.0 60 ft.'s.
Convenient to be able to drive to the track on them rather than having to swap when you get there. Hook pretty good even with 8 lb of boost building on the 2 step at the line.
exact same size and tire brand

im gonna be running 205/50R14's due to the 22 in. overall diameter as opposed to the 23 in. from the 205/50R15's

You want the BFG G-Force Drag Radials, not the T/A radials. 205/50/15

They are a lot better than the Nitto's, I have run both of them.

G-Force at http://www.tirerack.com at around $100 per tire. 205/50 15" would work good for you. I have Nittos and they work good if you want to drive on them all the time but for the most sticky on a street tire go with the BFG.

Slicks are way easier on the driveline than drag radials...no wheel hop on slicks.

I cut a 1.89 60ft with stock 130k miles eg suspension and nothing but 20x8x14 slicks on steelies...launching at 6grand and holding on.

BTW: 20 Passes later, no broken axles...

We probably have the same tires... I'm getting 2.39 60' -- I'm notorious for being the ultimate Kumho hater.
