Drag racing tips...
hey all, im going to be going to my first drag race event this weekend and was wondering if i could get some pointers from yall..
Well my car is a 92 cx hatch, semi-stripped..no rear seats, or spare tire, but still have the back panels...I just swapped in a d15b with a short ram intake, but am still using my CX tranny
.
I was wondering if i should take off the exhaust, and just run off the header, whats a good tire PSI, etc..
also if anyone has some launching tips, and shifting tips as well.

ur call if you want to take off the exhaust i wouldnt just one more thing you have to deal wiht. go on the 3rd yellow bring some stuff to drink maybe get some shoe polish umm tire gauge lower your tire pressure maybe around 20 22 wutever you feel is good.
This is a good tip. take all the junk out of your car. I dont know if u have floor mats, cd cases, junk in the glove box. Empty everything and take out the floor mats. Take away any misc. **** that u might have thats gonna fly around when you launch the car and when your shifting.
also, u could drop the exhaust, it will prolly help, If nothing else your gonna drop alot of weight.
Good luck.
oh, as far as tire pressure, start at about 28 psi or so and lower a couple psi everytime until u see a drop in your trapspeed.

i dont really have any junk in my car, i keep it as clean as possible, but im looking at taking out the pass seat, and all that...
Now as far as launching the car, when i have it up at what ever rpm, should i just drop the clutch, or feather into it?

On the open header, make sure it is legal at the track. Just double-check before you plan on anyting. Some tracks, you have to keep everything on.
I say launch at 3500 or so. Dont want the tires spinning too much. Keep dropping your tire pressure a little bit every run. See what you like it at, and mash on that thing.
Let us know what your times were. And most Importantly, HAVE FUN!!!!

best thing to do is just have fun. my best runs are when I go in not caring and just wanting to have a blast.
learn from others, people on the track are cool and love to talk about their own rides, you can learn from their experiences.
