Drag racing log book software
Already posted this on some Ford and Chevy sites, thought you guys would be interested too. This started out for my own use but I've decided to let anyone use it who wants to. Basically it's a site that lets you log all of your runs and then analyze them to determine how you are performing. It's simple for now but if reception is good I will continue development on it and add features. The site is 100% free to anyone who wants to use it, and sign up only takes a minute - http://www.RacersLog.net
UPDATE: There is an app now doesn't require internet access (except for Density Altitude and Backup), everything is stored directly on your phone or tablet. It also has some extra features the site doesn't have (i.e. you can log runs of multiple cars if you own more than one). There are some more features coming as well, like run segment analysis and a way to track the # of runs on components.
Android:
https://market.android.com/details?id=racerslog.app
iPhone:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/raceiq/id504617839
Kindle Fire:
http://www.amazon.com/RaceIQ-Drag-Ra...dp/B007GGAU60/
Right now the cost for the app is $1.99, but it won't stay that low.
Back to the website:
First shot is of the "Performance Report". This is basically a report of your performance over a given time period. You pick a date range and the site generates the report based on your runs within that range. In addition to what is shown in the screenshot there are graphs on this page that show your 1/4MPH & ET and your 1/8MPH & ET over the date range (so you can tell if you are improving):

There are also custom graphs available. For instance, you could generate a graph that shows your 60' time relative to your 330' time. Or you could see how your times differed based on which lane you ran in. For example here is a graph showing how the back half MPH gain progressed through the range:

Here's another I think would be useful - it is the 60' time based on the launch RPMs (although the same RPM was used throughout the day on this graph):

Screen to enter run data (like I said more fields can be added if they are requested - already added shift points, and opponent interval times):

Mods - I apologize if this is out of place. I have posted this on a couple other forums and the users liked it, so figured I would post it here. Please delete this thread if you feel it is out of line.

it would be even better to have a download-able piece of software to enter in data at the track, along with the slip could be air temp, track temp, tire pressure, weather condition....stuff like that. I know i would pay $20.00 for something like that, that did the graphing and all....until then...excel it is lol.
I have been asked several times for a downloadable peice of software. I might look into doing that.
The site supports data entry from an iPhone or Android phone, so if you have cell coverage you can use that at the track.
As far as DA/Weather goes the site can automatically pull weather data for you and populate it in based on the location of the track and the date/time of the run.. You can enter it manually if you want to as well, and all of that is accessible from the phone interface.

very cool. web-based app is no good for me though.
my brother's and i are bracket racers and this is what we've come up with using Excel/VB: www.kennardracing.com my version is a predictor and my brother rob's is a log book/predictor minus the DA corrections. we always want to know what the car will run on the next pass so we can dial. these prediction calculations are most useful for bracket racing. although my calculator will predict based on a change of DA. basically you choose a base run (a full pass) and compare it to a non-full pass (say you let off at the mph cone) and it will tell you what you should of run if you did not let off the throttle on the pass.
feel free to use our excel sheets for ideas. i would personally like to see a full program like yours with bracket racing type predictions built in and to be a standalone application. basically a cheaper version of Crew Chief Pro hahaha.
anyway, my ideas and thoughts are probably not the same as others on this forum. i dont think there are many bracket racers on here. i also hope you dont think i'm thread jacking or stepping on your toes, just sharing ideas and thoughts.
cant wait to see how your app develops.

Thanks a lot for your thoughts on it, I take no offense to ideas like that at all.
Actually the very first time I posted this software on a site the guy from Crew Chief Pro came on and started saying this and that, how my software wasn't good, and how "serious computer programs require professional programmers" - that's an actual quote. Keep in mind I hadn't ever talked to him before and he had no idea who I was or that I'm actually a software architect, run a team of programmers, and have been programming professionally for > 12 years.
I told him my software wasn't competition for his, since mine wasn't really for bracket racers. Then he came off with this: "I don't worry about anyone competing with me simply because it would take years just to duplicate what I do. By that time I would be years ahead again." The fact that he thinks his software would take "years" to duplicate is hilarious, I wrote this site in less than two weeks during my free time and it already has many features of his software and some that his software doesn't have.
Honestly all he's done is make me want to develop a competitor to his software even more.. So I just might end up doing it. If I do I will get in touch with you and maybe bounce some ideas off of you??

that's funny. my predictions are almost always identical to Crew Chief Pro from what we have tested. hahaha in fact i have been closer a few times and my logic is super simple math.
ya feel free to contact me anytime. i would love to help develop a Crew Chief Pro alternative.

I will contact you for sure if I do it. I have a couple other projects going that I'd like to deal with first, but I like the thought of it. That software is $280+. If I do it I would probably be able to undercut that price pretty significantly while keeping most of the features and of course you'd get it for free.
Like I said though I have a couple other projects going so it could be a bit before I started, if I decide to do it.

Thanks for the software very cool of you to offer it free. If you make it into a downloadable format I would just zip it and sell it for 15-20$ make your buck for time invested.
Very nice!!! And thank you for sharing.
I have something similar (though not nearly as awesome) with MS Excel for my own personal use, but I'll give this a try and report back.

Due to some requests by users the following fields have been added and can be tracked on each run:
Timing
Carb. Jetting
Fuel Pressure
Length of Burnout (in seconds)
Injector Size
Duty Cycle
Thanks,
Zach

Yeah the 1.99 was temporary, but 2.99 is still less than it will be. I have to pay to use the weather information and I had more people than expected sign up at 1.99, which could mean trouble for next months weather bill
I feel like it's a good app and worth the cost, hope you find the same!
Thanks for downloading it.

I can probably make a version for Blackberry if there is enough demand.
PC version is getting worked on, I'm trying to get it working as a Google Chrome App (which doesn't require an internet connection).
Depending on how that goes the PC version could be available within a week.
