Default Does an oval exhaust effect flow?

I am wondering if oval exhaust piping have any effect in flow? What is the difference between a circle pipe as opposed to oval? Say it was on a turbo'ed car, and the pipe is 4 inches. TIA

The main difference is one is oval and the other is circular.

Nice, Art.

I'll take a shot at this. For any given cross-sectional area, an oval tube will have more internal surface area than a round tube. That means more boundary layer drag, and more heat loss. Both would tend to increase backpressure, but probably not by enough to be measurable or to produce a meaningful difference on a dyno, unless the tubing was REALLY flat.

I was thinking about going 4" and using the Burns oval piping to go under the real lower control arm and the gas tank. Hopefully someone has tried this.....it would be nice to see some pics if someone did.

I've got the smooth oval transition under my pan now....

I got it from too many speed bumps and parking lot entrances...

Damn smooth transition though..lol

<SideNote> Arturbo> what's your heading in Japanese under your name say? all I got out of it was giraffe and beer
