Difference in tenths and weight?
Ok I have heard a few things:
For every tenth you gain (.1 or 1/10) then its a car length.....
For every 100 pounds its a tenth gain (.1 or 1/10).....
are those accurate?

running in the 13 to 16 second range, the difference is about 10ft. - you can figure about 2 tenths for each 100 lbs. if you weigh between 1700 to 2300 lbs. - 3 tenths if you weigh between 1300 to 1700 lbs. - this assumes that once you take weight out, you can still get the same amount of traction - we dropped our car from 1700lbs with driver to 1610lbs and relocated some of the weight to the front and picked up 4 tenths without any other changes.

Its kind of an inversly related relationship. The lighter the car is the more taking out wieght will make a difference. For instance taking 100lbs off a 2000lb car will make more of a difference then taking 100lbs off a 4000lb car. but also, the faster the car gets the harder it is to gain tenths in the 1/4. on a 16 sec car 10hp may gain u a tenth, but on a 9sec car 10hp might not make a slight difference.
but also judging car lengths is even harder. are u talking cars @ the finish line? 1/8 or 1/4? cars on the highway? it would be interesting to know though how many cars a tenth is @ the end of the track. that way at the street races you could guage pretty well if people were trying to hit u up for car length leads and all that.
