Default Deep staging ? (searched)

Simple question, Deep staging .. Is that just staging farther back so you can get " a running start" off the line ? thanks

No that's shallow staging which will give you a worse reaction time but better 1/4 et, deep staging gives you a better reaction time but slower ET

No....deep staging is actually rolling farther ahead which turns out the pre-stage lights. The idea of deep staging is to get a better reaction time. Im not the greatest at explaining the part what makes up a reaction time. I believe its the time from a green light to when your tires have left the staging light beams....its pretty much a head start for the person that deepstages....but nothing huge of course.......o yeah and of course..dont roll too far or too soon....or you'll go red

Your definition of reaction time is correct. On a .4 Pro tree, a .400 RT is perfect. On the .5 "countdown" tree, a .500 RT is perfect.

FYI, they changed the readouts on the Powerade series, so that a perfect RT prints out as .000, no matter which tree is being used. Any kind of red-light will show up as a negative. Sure makes it easier to understand that way. Look for most tracks to update over the course of the year.

Speaking of the Powerade Series....do you think they might bring the LED christmas tree to the Sport Compact series??.....even tho the new tree was mainly to keep bulbs from blowing bc of the Top Fuelers

Right now there is only one tree that will accept the LED bulbs, and it travels to the POWERade events. There's also some hardware and software upgrades necessary for the change. We use the host track's tree at each Sport Compact event, so each track would have to commit to upgrading their equipment before we could switch the series. One day I'm sure we'll have a big trailer, and bring our own equipment to each event, but we're not there just yet. In the meantime, we have to rely on the track.

Some tracks have already expressed interest in making the switch. How would drivers feel about some tracks in the series using LED's, but not all? This isn't a "poll" or anything, just looking for feedback.

when i was at our local trakcs drivers meeting there was talk of this.. they werent talking about upgrading as the question was asked.

From the stand point of alot of drivers there ( and primarly a NHRA domestic bracket race track) the guys there dont liek the idea of the LED bulbs, as you kno LEDs are way more instant then a convetionla light bulb, this making more and more bad reaction times as people adjust.

My theory is, and im new to the sport, if ever track had the same bulbs you'd adjust, but i heard a cost of well into the $5000 range to upgrade the systems...

my theory.. if its not broken, dont fix it. I like the regualr bulbs, althoug the LEDs may be easier to see.

just my thoughts... but who am I??? hahaha just a crazy canadian trying to go faster.

the bulbs work for me im used to em and knwo how to time em just right.
yea deep staging is just that , , , rolling past the 1st line just enough to untrigger the bottom lights and only the tops will be on , so your only on the frontal beam. . .it works for soem people . i tried it a few times and it didnt work good for me.

The reaction (no pun intended) from drivers at Pomona Winternationals was that it makes for better reaction times. So a driver with bad reaction times right now will benefit more from the LEDs than a driver who already gets good reaction times.

but the first time a filiment bulb goes out while your at the line youll wish the track woulve switched to the LED's cause it could end up costing you alot of $.

I am all for it, anything to make better reaction times is great!!
