Default To the DA's, attn: bottlefedintegra

Im in the final process of removing all the tar and unwanted interior pieces from my DA and just wondering HOW LIGHT the stripped 2g chassis can get. Its an RS no AC etc.

Bottlefedintegra what does your car weigh??

Here are some pics before i started and i can assure you it looks nothing like this now. Ill upload the new pics tonight hopefully. Im hoping for something around 2200 lbs. Dash, door panels, and carpet will remain.

What do your DA's weigh. Thanks guys

I'm not sure what the weight is but I'll be going to the track next week and I'll get it weighed there. If I had to guess I would say around 2100 lbs. or less.

Mike(ninsecrx)mentioned something about brake fluid taking the tar off like nothing. I'm gonna try it. I've tried the heat gun and it gets too gooey...The dry ice method works better than teh heat gun method

thanks for the replys my car is getting towed to the paint booth next week to have the interior repainted white cause the car was originally red. The rear tire compartement is also getting cut out and a flat plate welded in. Hopefully to help with wind resistence.

id be happy with 2200-2300 lbs. time will tell

CHRIS

Air chisel.. why didnt I think about that. I sat in my cousin's black CRX in the 100 degree heat with the windows up to get the tar hot enough to scrape up. That sucked bad.. I think I lost about 6 pounds and started hallucinating

I can't seem to visualize what you are talking about here. Can you explain a little more? I have a DA9 as well that I am trying to lighten up a bit. Thanks,

i didnt think my line was long enough to go around. But im redoing it eventually just really havent got around to it.

If you pop the hatch and look at the rear floor area there is the spare tire well. I am basically cutting the whole well out, and making the whole rear of the car flat.

NHRA Sport FWD class rules mandate stock floorpan, front to rear. Cutting out the spare tire well will bump you to Hot Rod, or back to brackets.

When we took out the tar in my 97 ex trunk area, back seat area, and passenger floor, it equaled 35 lbs, not too sure how acurate my scale is, but it was freakin heavy, still hafta do the driver side. Also we did it with a large chisel and hammer =hand blisters *ouch*

imo, the da is too heavy for a b16a, even for a built one. I'd built your b18a bottom end and get some cams or just swap a vtec head on it.

im running a b16 in my da now and fairly happy. its faster than the b18a. when i finally get my turbo stuff going(getting real tired of looking at it), would rather have a little more.
i also have to say reving to 9k is fun too
