Default CRX launch

Hi,
We got a CRX (stock 1.6L) w/ Jackson Racing Supercharger. The computer has been upgraded with a Zdyne fully programmable EMS. Quater mile time of 12.9. The problem we're having is launch. The CRX has a really short wheelbase and it's also really light. Can't seem to get out of the box without spinning the wheels (Mickey Thompson slicks 24s) alot. Spring rating is 541lbs w/ KYB adjustable shocks. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

I agree... Traction bars and lower the air pressure somewhere between 15-20; whatever works best for you and your driving style.

Don't blame it on the Crx. We got low 1.5's before we switched to the wheelie bars. I could be alot of things. Slick size, the RMP that you launch, Tire pressure, the way you let out the clutch ect.

Lower the tire pressure alot lower than 15-20 psi! Do like 10-12 psi cold, they will wrinkle and help you hook, and then when they heat up as you go faster, they will "grow" as the pressure increases.

I only mentioned that as a starting point to start testing and tweaking. And if I'm not mistaken, most drag slicks reccommend no lower than 15 psi. I personally run 13 psi on street tires so I wouldn't be too concerned about dropping below the reccommend pressures on slicks

On radial tires, too low tire pressure will acctually decrease the amount of traction because the middle of the tire will lose its contact with the ground and you will ride on the sidewalls. Full slicks dont have this problem for the most part. How high are you launching the car? How are you heating them up? If you have enough power, try a 2nd gear burnout so you can burn them longer. No reason a car at that power level shouldnt be hooking up and pulling 1.7's.

I persnally know these guys. They race the SNC SPEED GARAGE CRX. He can't launch the car with the tire pressure being higher than 8 PSI. Anything higher and he just spins the tire to his 10,000rpm redline. No Lie. His rear seems to be squatting at least 3 inches on the launch. According to them his launch rpm is 5000. Oh, and the tires are huge (24.5 inches) considering this is a stock block b16a. Vtec activation I believe is at 5500 rpm. I believe his best 60 was 1.6 or 1.7, but he only ran 13.0 on the run he did this. His best was 12.9 @ 106.58mph with a 1.95 sec 60 foot. Go figure!!!!
