Web Cams experts
Hello H-T,
I was in the market looking for Race cam setup for my race car (Ferrea Roller / Web Pro) for some time and I found a good deal on Web Pro cams with rockers, spacers and VTEC block-off plate.
After I receive them, I found out the cam card mentioned those are (stage 1 / Part # 35-442) but the cams I received are 2 lobe cams.
When I checked the stamps on the cams, the numbers are for stage one cam (492 on the intake cam and 737 on the exhaust cam).
I couldn’t believe what I saw so I decide to measure the both cams lift and this is my finding:
Intake cam lift: 0.515 inch.
Exhaust cam lift: 0.495 inch.
Also, I have noticed that retainer to valve seal clearance is 0.025” and cam lobe to cam cup clearance is less that 0.002”.
So, is there any one hade same issue with the cam card or stamps?
And, what are your retainers to valve seal clearance and cam lobes to cam cup clearance?
Thanks in advance.

if you have less then 2 tho of clearance is because the guide needs to be pushed down. Which should be done before the valve job. You cant just drop these in.

I think you miss understood me, the less than 2 tho is between cam lope and camshaft cap (the long two cap) that's why I took the cap to the workshop to mill 20 tho from them.

Re: Web Cams experts
Regarding the guide, web recommended 0.030 min clearance between retainers and guide but what about retainers to valve seal min clearance?
I bought a member from here, so I don't know from where he bought them.

so no valveseals.....this is on racecars only right...and also doesnt oil get into the combustion chamber and increase chance of detonation?

Re: Web Cams experts
I guess when you think about how a car acts with bad valve seals it makes sense. There will be leakdown of oil into the cylinder after it sits and get a puff of smoke on first start up but then really nothing while driving. So there is a minimal amount of oil that would actually make its way into the combustion chamber during normal operation. You would likely in a race only application prefer the benefits of ensuring enhanced lubrication to the valves and guides over a very minimal amount of oil being introduced into the combustion chamber.

It's a RLZ "outlaw" head with bronze seats and bronze guides. Nothing crazy, just prepped for the cams I'm using. I came up with .019 between valve seal and retainer. Plenty of room. Lol
I don't use special Web cams. Just their shelf Pros.

Re: Web Cams experts
Which mean I have more clearance in my cylinder head .
To sheepy,
Are my finding lift measurements right? Or I suppose to get same as the advertised numbers?
Thanks

Re: Web Cams experts
I was thought that I need more than 0.025 clearance but Mr. Sheepy confirmed that I will be fine with what I have so, no need to spend more and have more headach on that peice of crap.
Thanks every one for your inputs .
