I race the NDRA in their heads-up street class, Turbo 4. I always build my car around contingency products. There is one simple reason...$$$$$$ I won two events last year and runnered-up two events. The total payout from NDRA for these four races I placed in was $1000. The contingency $ from placing at these events totaled $4600. None of the products I used ever compromised the performance of my car, i.e. using an AEM cam gear vs. JUN or a K&N air filter vs. a screen over my turbo inlet. I race for the fun of it, but if you use your head a little, it can be made much more fun with the addition of some extra funding if you win a race. BTW, the contingency product list unfortunately take a while to be distributed. The manufacturers tend to take their time getting all the paperwork into the sanctioning bodies for the coming racing season. NDRA already has a nice selection posted on their web site.

funny thing is.. if you build your car with a bumch of venom parts (sponsor for battle) you'll likely not be able to win a race and be ineligable to collect the contingencies
Hehehehe....you will notice that I mentioned products that don't really affect performance, i.e cam gears and air filters. If a Venom cam gear would pay, why not run it and at least have the opportunity to get paid if you win? But still, there are many quality companies that post; ACT clutch, MSD ignitions, BFGoodrich tire, Auto Meter gauges, etc. You don't have to compromise the performance of your car to use contingency products. I admit, for this whole deal to work, you must win or runner-up. I don't play.....I race to win, so if you are not serious about winning and are just out to run your car and hang out, then I would just run what ever you want. If you are serious and do what ever it takes to win, the contingencies are a very nice benefit.

Zex man, are you running nhra sport fwd this year? I went all the way to nopi bradenton, cause I wanted to run you . I was dispapointed when you werent there , what happened? I had a good day down there went a best of 10.22@145 and won turbo 4, it was the only nopi race I could make it to last year. This year they will be in my back yard MIR , so I will deffently be out there with the new coupe. PM me I want to here how you are doing, and next years plans.

Jason,
I heard you were going to be at Bradenton and I was testing the week before the race to get the car set up.......well, bottom line is that I knew I needed some 10.50s to even hang with you, so I cranked up the boost and it split a cylinder on the first pass. Needless to say I did not have a spare motor laying around. I had always run a stock block with a block guard, but I finally relented after that and got a Darton sleeved block. I was really hoping to run ya. Either way, I am only running NDRA this year. I would have to add 140 lbs to make the car legal minimum in NHRA and I can't bring myself to do that. I am setting the car up for consistant low 10s this year, I don't have any illusions of hanging with you in the mid to high 9s
Are you planning on making any NDRA events other than MIR? BTW, congrats on your success last season, your car seriously hauls ***. There really is very little competition for you in the street legal FWD scene.

Thanks, your's has to be fastest sohc, street car in the country... As far as nhra weight breaks, thats why we are buidling the coupe we figured , we would have to because the local imstar series was making minimum weights also. My crx weighed 2140 for nhra we had to *** 160 pounds it would be worth it, but we wanted a change, the crx will probaly run local races, and possibly have someone else driving it next year. I will defently be at mir, and vmp nopi events. see you this season. Good luck.
