Default Competition Engineering Roll Cage

Anyone use this roll cage? It's a 8pt roll cage and is claimed to meet NHRA and IHRA specs. It's a decent price under $300. I'm only a weekend racer so I wouldn't need anything too fancy. What are your thoughts or what do you guys recommend. I'll be shooting for high to mid 10's by next spring.

what did you get, and what do you regret about it? I mean this roll cage is made for the 92-95 honda civic and I'm assuming Competition Engineering is a reputable company with quality products. Fabrication to install and make it fit should be minimal. What are the benefits of getting a custom cage done? Fitment or design. Design would be similar I would assume for a custom 8pt roll cage?

IMO

btw if your gona get a pre bent cage i would get a kens kustom

I had that same cage in my car. If youre not looking to go faster than 10.0 or 135 mph its really a decent cage. Also its a pretty good fit in the 92-00 civic. The main hoop and the side bars fit the body of the car pretty good if you mount them in the right place.

I run that exact cage in my car...you just have to weld in another bar for the d-bars to weld to. The CE cage fits really well in my car. And We got the cage certified for 8.50's...so not going faster than a 10.00 or 135 is not an issue.

i have the ce cage. like the others have said. as long as you dont break 135mph or 9.99 you shouldbe goo. after that you gotta get cert'ed...and at that point its time to look into a chromoly pro cage install

oops wrong cage lol Mines a 10pt, i have the halo and the front bars also. I didnt look good enough at the pictures. The diagonal bars....they have to be welded to a bar that crosses the car, they cant be welded to the floor on plates. I had to change that in my cage to get it certed. And i just realized i used the jegster roll cage, not the CE so look into them. I mean the 10pt was only about 380 shipped, and then your safe for as fast as you wanna go.

I was lookin at the Jegster 10pt and I might go with that instead. The price is pretty easy on the wallet too. It's not chromoly but I think the walls are thicker to compensate. Weight doensn't matter anyways right, haha Oh well.

dude get a shop to fit it to your car.
trust me it is money well spent.

the d bars in that pic, technically arent legal, but the dude that cert'd the chassis, told us to put them that way.
they will be updated along with a chute mount this off season.

we have the jegster in a EG..its a decent cage but if we had to do it again we'd go custom and the reason being is...that it doesn't fit tight in the car like a custom cage would....PAY THE EXTRA CASH ANDS GET A CUSTOM one! good luck

so how do you all paint the bars? do you paint the majority of it befor it's welded in then just paint the joints later?

Like I said, my car really isn't going to be raced competitively much. As long as it fits relatively good I'll be okay. I just need to be able to do time trials without getting kicked off the track.

So is this fitment bad because all the bars don't meet up in the same place? Like the door bar, cross bar, etc don't meet together on the main hoop?

Look at the gaps between the cage and the car.. the tighter everything is the better.
