Default Comp. Twin Disk questions

Ill try and keep it short. I bought a lightly used Comp twin disk from a member on here. It didnt come with a throw out bearing and the pilot bearing was garbage. So...

1. Can i use a stock pilot bearing?

2. Do i need a special throw out bearing?

3. Whats the proper way of setting the clutch up?

I had a QuarterMaster twin in my DSM and only mods were to the throw out fork. I have searhed and went to the Comp website and havent found much info. Maybe im looking in the wrong spot or the wrong way. Any info is appreciated.

use a stock bearing but you have to modifie it.. the inner race need to be cut down lower that the bearing the fingers ride on. the inner race gets cut a little less than 1/4 inch i think and you should set up a clutch stop to keep from over centering the clutch

sorry its late. the race or the inner plastic needs to be shaved down lower than the actuall metal part of the(outer) bearing.

Makes sense now. Thanks Chad. Do you know if it uses an OEM pilot bearing?

stock pilot bearing yes

stock throw out bearing is not recommended.

if you use the stock throw out bearing and shave it down, yes it will work, but it grabs a different part of the pressure plate so you lose a bunch of mechanical advantage and end up with a needlessly heavy pedal.

P.S. if you want to send it in for inspection I can test it and let you know how it looks.

If you want to go that route you will only be out some time and shipping charges. :D

P.P.S.
