Ok got a used chute for the car to be able to make Wcf. The loop on the spring launcher is broke. Is it junk or can I use a heavy duty piece of string? I can't load a pic off my phone for some reason. But is the Simpson chute with the spring pilot chute? Its has the loop that you thread through the chute bag holes to keep it shut. I guess I'm asking how much pressure is on this piece of string?

 

Not much pressure when all of the flaps are wrapped around the chute. Heavy string should do the trick.

One more ? You can cut the chute release cable right? Just pull the inner wire thru then cut the cable then trim the little wire to the lenght you want?

 

i agree with tepid, a heavy string should work.

yes you can cut the inner cable. i highly recomend doing this, so it "lessens" the amount you need to push/pull the chute release lever.
