If you are afraid of shifting at 7k try 10k usually the higher revolutions are easier on the motor. Hondas love to rev at 10,000k.

also when you launch makes sure to bounce it off the rev limiter at least 5 times, that gets load put on the engine so you get moving faster and you don't give your engine a sudden surge of power when you drop the clutch.

Shift as close to the limiter as possible. You need to stay high in the powerband after shifting..Don't worry Hondas love to rev high (I rev to 8600 when drag racing)

shift at around 3-4k in the 1/4 mile. This way you can enjoy the experience but not waste precious gasoline.

may be to be specific, to make sure that i did understand what you are talking let me explain.

the rpm's goes from 1 to 8 and the red line starts at right after the number 6. So I shift a litle bit before seven, because right at 7 the rpm needle will not go more, and if I keep presing the gas at 7 it will make a litle jump and go down a litle bit.

May be someone that has a 94-97 accord will understand easily.

and some of you said that you revb at 9500 or higher i don't understand how.

please explain me. I it's not hard to typed a few helpful words that i will really appreciate.

thanks

You dont need to be racing. YOu dont have a fundamental understanding of an automobile, therefore you should not be driving let alone racing. Before you hit the track why dont you enroll in a basic automotive course at school. I assume your in highschool. They will explain to you that the 1-8refers to thousand RPM and that that jumping thing it does at the end is you bouncing of the revlimiter. You cannt rev to 9500rpm your engine wont do it. These guys are running motors that were built to handle that kind of RPM. I'm not trying to be a dick but thats the damn truth.

DO NOT RACE YOUR CAR - that's all I have to say, and I'm sure everyone here agrees with me.

Yes, we do, I'm sure. But if he's gonna do it, he may as well do it right... I shift at 8000, which is right before my limiter with my B16A, in every gear. Shift at redline in every gear with a Honda...

I redline at 6,800 and I shift between redline and 7,000. My engine makes a horrible noise above 6,500 so it scares me, even though everything is ok. I've actually had my best time shifting before redline, don't know why though.

Why dont you just take it to the track and find out. Test out the rpm range till you find whats best.

look my friend when i race, i always shift close to the redline, but i wanted to make sure that i was doing it right. the reason why i don't have that much experience because i have been in the u.s for less that 4 years, i am from Guatemala, and i didn't have the chance to go to a driving school, so i'm trying to learn from your experience, on your post, im sorry if i look stupid but i have race with people that knew what was a car at the age of 1 or more, and i feel proud of what i have learn with my accord ( my fist car for 1 year) I learn what i know in one year, and thank you anyways i know that you are trying to help me. thanks guys.
