I have had 2 now that I keep having syncing problems with. V1 1040u boxes. I have sent aem 3 emails and have spent prob 2hrs on hold trying to get answers or some info on were to send it to get checked out.Well its been 2 months now and no reply from anybody at aem. If this is how they do business then I don't want there product on my race car or my street car.

AEM V2 is the next best thing to motec if your looking to upgrade. AEM version 1 had a lot off error in the timing curves.

Look... you need to take that AEM and slam it on the floor 5 maybe 10 times. It wont fix anything but it sure will help you feel better about yourself. They are nothing but "cheap" alternatives to the real thing. Like the "FleshLight".

Be glad you have only had to spend 2hrs on the phone. I have spent more than a few years salary's worth of time dealing with problems not related to the user.

Options:

Motec M84
Autronic SM4
FAST

here is the reason for my asking. i just bought 2 t1 cam triggers. was going to put one on my race car and one on my street car. only diffrence being id rather drive a integra on the street cause i hate the looks of the hatch! i now have the same setup in my street car as i do in my race car! i have 2 aems and with all the problems i just went ahead and bought 2 cam trigger kits and im in the process of getting to cop setups to fix the aem problem. but now that aem has pissed me off for the last time i want to go a diffrent route. i cannot afford motec, plan and simple. what out there is still affordable to the average guy but will work with 8-900hp setups?

The Motec M84 is $2725 and that includes built in lambda and datalogging.

Sell both your aems and buy one M84 to use in both cars.

im not saying there all junk. its just a matter of getting a good one. and it wouldnt be so bad if they had a decent customer support. if they would have just emailed me or called me back i would still be running there product.

A lot of details here. The pricing is slightly higher than that blog post now though, pricing went up from Motec. Since they come from Australia the pricing gets adjusted every once in a while to follow the exchange rate.

Not trying to be a dick but the engine management you just described is an AEM. And regardless of budget I personally feel it's one of the best systems out that not only allows the common enthusiast the ability to make great power and be competitive on a budget but also provides the flexibility to get the most out of any setup! Not to mention they support the import drag community where others have either forgotten about us or just don't care.

Customer service can be what the customer makes of it. Not saying it’s your fault by any means just saying the attitude you go into it with greatly affects the outcome. I'm not sure what number your calling or the channels you’re trying but 310-484-2322 always works for me and I use this number on a daily basis for my company. They do run on PST and are in the office 8am-5pm daily they are gone from 12:00 noon till 1pm PST for lunch and 10am-3pm PST is their busiest times and Mondays and Tuesdays are very high volume days for calls. Maybe try a call during a non peak time and see how it goes.

Also AEM's forum has some really great advice, tips, and answers. Not to mention a lot of really great experienced turners to bounce things off of: http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php

Again not trying to be a smart *** just trying to say I understand your upset and want help but before you start selling off parts and spending more money give them another shot. Be calm and patient and things tend to go your way not just in a customer service setting but in life in general. Hope you get this figured out and wish you good luck.

for your info i am giving aem one last chance. aem got ahold of me this afternoon. going to send boxes back and get checked out. i hope they can find out whats going on so i can make import vs domestic in nov. i really wanted that to be my first official true street race. and it wasnt the phone calls that got to me. it was the emails over the last 2 months trying to get help that really did it. but if they get me straight in the next couple weeks and i can get my car going on the aem, then i will continue to use there product....

I'm really loving Haltech compared to AEM at the moment...its another option to look into and you can run your cam trigger.

They do offer a plug and play setup, harness, ECU and of course wideband as well. Let me know if you need any info!
