Buying a Drag Shell
Hopefully this is in the right section, its Drag related so yha
-well im getting ready to buy a drag integra from my friend.
The car used to run in the All Motor class and im gonna get the shell only and do a H2B build.
My question is do i need any paper work for the car from him. I know the orgin of the car and know its not stolen or anything. The car has been in the game since 03 and hasnt had any paperwork since then.
Since its going to be for track use only and trailered to and from the track, do i have to worry about anything? thanx

no, as long as its not on the streets you are fine, but if you don't have a title in your name there is always the possibility of someone reporting it stolen with their name on the title and its rightfully or should i say legally theirs.
Just to be safe, if i were to try and get the title from the DMV could i?
The friend selling me the car didnt get any paper work from his buddy who has since moved.
Can i jus get the seller and go to DMV and explain the situation?
OR jus F it and start the build and hope no1 screws me over.
thanx

It is not always as easy as that. The same thing happen with my Civic.
I bought the car from a "friend" who said he could get the title. After months he stopped returning my calls. I went to DMV and they said a bill of sale was not good enough because the last time the car was registered it was not in the name of the person that sold it to me.
I had to hunt down the owner that my "friend" purchased the car from and pay them to go to the DMV in their state to file for a duplicate title.
Hopefully you dont have to go through all that, but if the car was never registered to the person that is selling you the car- like mine wasnt- then that may cause an issue for you.
Good luck

If your in California you can always just put a lien sale on the vehicle.
If nobody claims the vehicle in 45 days its yours. Legally.
Than if you dont want to register it fine. At least youll have proper documention of ownership.

You can never have enough paperwork for the car. The work involved in getting the proper paper work is NOTHING compared to trying to get your car back, if it is ever impounded
