Default burnout problem

I have 92 civic hatch with 24.5.9.13 slicks....the car made around 660 on race and 400 something on pump gas. I just went to the track yesterday and when i went to do a burnout it will start to go until it bounces off the rev limiter more than twice it just stops. So i get to the line and go and the car will fly down the track but no burnout means no grip. Any idea what is going on!? i tried both gears for burnouts first then second!

your using the e-brake right? and never do 1st gear burnouts, not enough speed to light up the tires enough, stick with 2nd gear.

yes e-brake...changed plugs before i ran... just bogs as soon as it hits the rev limiter after two or three times, just falls on its face

2nd gear works best, I've had to do first gear burnouts for several months due to issues with 2nd gear and i still was cutting 1.6 60 foots.

mine will hit boost cut during the burnout after on the rev limiter for a little bit. I do second gear burnouts... It will run 14.5-15 psi down the track but during the burnout sometimes it will hit boost cut which is set at 16 psi. I need to turn it up.

That could be it. does it backfire like when it hits boost cut, or spark is cut??

it sounds like the fuel enrichment on your revlimiter might be a little excessive.. maybe it's excessive and the car is cuttin spark which is causing all the fuel to coat your plugs and make it run like poo poo after you hit rev limiter.. talk to your tuner and see if he can make any adjustments..

also, what did you use to tune?

Do it in third. The wheel speed will be so fast that u will only need like a 2 second burnout. Doesnt matter if i carry the burnout past the tree...or do a 5 footer the car hooks the same. Try to stop a little past the water.and the the boost come up on the 2 step before u let the clutch go.

1st gear burn outs work just fine.. i have talked to people with 9 second hondas, and they do 1st gear burnouts and are cutting 1.5-1.6 60 foots.. i guess it is up to you on what gear youd like to do the burn out in.. but i dont know about you but i like keeping my tranny in my car and not pulling it out to repair it cuz i messed it up cuz of a burnout..

Do it in 3rd gear and try to keep the throttle steady and stay off the revlimiter as much as possible.(It will be easier to control your revs, since your doing it in 3rd gear. Then let the car pull you out the water.

Dropping the clutch for 3rd gear isn't much different than dropping it in 1st IF you have the power to do it. The clutch will get more abuse than the gearset. If you don't have the power and you end up bogging, that's a different story.

I agree with your main point though about 1st gear burnouts. A lot depends on the tire though, too.
