Default Building a drag car

I am in the process of building an all motor drag car. I just removed the dash, vent ducts, blower motor, harness going to the cluster/radio/climate control...what else can be removed from behind the dash and the car still work??!

I'm going to install a fiberglass dash, and putting a tach, oil press, oil temp, fuel press, A/f ratio into the dash...will I need that harness?

Also, is it normal for VTEC to not kick in when the check engine light is on, and is there any way to bypass the light?

Does anyone know of any other ways to take some weight out of the car??

well if you are going to build a drag car then get rid of everything under the dash. cause a drag car doesnt need anything but a seat and a steering wheel. and if the check engine light is on then vtec will work depending what CEL. you have to find the problem and fix it. if you want to make the car lighter take the windows out and put lexan. then you can make the rear a straight axle, carbon fiber doors, one piece front, the list goes on an on....

good luck

The CEL has been coming on since I had a quaife put in...that one is the speedo sensor.

The other is the TPS sensor which started with the edelbrock throttle body being installed!

recalibrate your TPS sensor and that light will go away.

What is the best in line fuel pump to run?

Does anyone have any engine pics of their drag cars? I would like to see the placement of oil catch tanks, inline fuel pumps, ignition boxes etc...

Thanks for the help guys!!!

IMO..i would look into the 2 systems and from there distinguish which one will do the job for u..try to keep it as simple as possible.(K.I.S.S.).IMO to start...there's many people making over 600 or more HP on both systems..but the AEM has SOOOO many more options that the hondata doesn't..so get the system that fits your application..maybe u might find a different system besides these 2 that do it for u..remember u will get alot of biased opinions so i recommend doing a Little more research on other systems as well..i personally like both systems u chose..

good luck

I'm in your same spot but I'm going with Hondata because it works good and is like $500 cheaper.
