could this be an issue with preloading causing the ecu to flake out

in the box i didnt preload near as much as on the line. in the box i was golden, on the line at launch with alot of preload this would be the same issue i was having.

ECU's don't just "flake" out. Unless you have some loose connections in your setup, it's not going to cause it. And you should have your ecu mounted correctly anyways.

Not on my case. I've made a couple passes with no burnout and leaving the line lime you would a stop light then go 100% at about 4k rpm and once it got into boost up top it would fall on it's face. Full throttle shift to 2nd and there is no boost/power there. Then all of a suddden you can hear it start to come back alive it starts to spool again, gets full boost pulling hard then will lose all boost again. That's the best way I can explain it. My home computer is down right now so I can't post the vids of the car doing that right now

you stated it goes back to a vacuum when the problem happens, even though the throttle body is wide open. how many " of vacuum is it?

easiest way to figure this out.. i mentioned this long time ago..
just the change the "turbocharger".
You even said you checked everything else. what is there left to do? turbo lol or the motor just leaking boost? hardly doubt that
good luck

do you log backpressure on the turbo? if something is keeping it from spinning it should have a lot of backpressure right?

I'm not logging backpressure or shaft speed. If I was I'm sure it would pinpoint this problem. We are changing the turbo back to the normal sidewinder spot next week along with a few other small changes. I'll post up progress/pics as we get it done. Should only take 2 days of fab work then I'll be able to go back to testing. I've changed the compressor cover all ready if all of this doesn't solve the problem I'll just have to try a new turbo

How much vacuum? Assume you are checking this in logs- so its what the computer sees/ thinks it sees. It shouldnt be able to see vacuum even with the charger stopped- should still see atmosoheric pressure (or very near it)
If the computer is seeing vacuum (or thinks it is) it would de-fuel hard and you would loose boost pressure as well. Possible MAP sensor/ vacuum hoses?
If its external MAP could be reference voltage issues even.

I've tried different map sensors and it didn't fix it. I moved it from intake manifold to a vac line ran to manifold and after that it ran good for about 4 passes then back to same thing. But it's always been an on and off thing. I'd have to look at the logs again to see what the fuel is doing upon losing boost. It only drops down to right below 0 to vacuum

Joe going to try to make it to Mir even if the car isn't done which I hope it is. Had some things happen at home so gotta make sure the funds are there

have you tried putting a mechanical vacuum gauge on it? i wouldn't think it'd be fuel. doesn't miss or smoke, just boggs hard?

No it doesn't miss when it does it. If anything it runs richer because the VE is going down from what I can see. I took the whole setup apart today and we are going back to a sidewinder setup, new compressor cover and one wastegate. I believe that will fix it however if it does not I'll throw another turbo on it or have mine sent in to be check over. Had the turbo apart today though and everything looks fine from our eyes.
