A blast from the past
met up with the boys over at exospeed and ran into Mr green today, he was visiting the sunny state with fires lol. was fun times talking about the good ol days!
kinda got me snooping around for some memorabilia and found a full video of the Indy race, and the NHRA Sportsman Alley Venue.
arturbo, and i went up to greet the guys and gals at Indy with Precision Turbo, Drive Shaft Shop, Supertech Valves, VP Racing Fuels, and of course Urbanracer.com
this was the first and maybe the last time NHRA import drag racing met at Indy Aug 18th and 19th 2007 at orielly raceway park IN. was excellent times for those who were there at this historic event.
we like for those who went to the event, or even followed the series chime in on what your doing now, which most i know are still very much involved in the scene but many pro teams have left the building so to speak. id love to hear from you guys and maybe pass it along the grapevine and see who responds. we all love to hear from everyone that was drag racing sport compact.
here is a link

here is a signed t shirt i kept from the event and had everyone sign it. i thought was pretty damn cool.
well back to work lol
ill try and download the video and post it on youtube. its about 2 hours worth of racing, sportsman alley, and some funny business at the hotel lol

There is a sad story behind that Indy race. It killed a 15 year old event that was the biggest of its kind, and cost a good friend of mine his career. He had built that massive event from scratch. 3500 car event with over 200 racers every year. What a shame.

Re: A blast from the past
I was there after pulling endless all nighters trying to figure out an electrical problem, instead of racing i was hanging out in the Sportsman alley and spectating. It was an awesome race i still wish i could have competed.
The Sportsman Alley was a really cool deal it would be great to see it make a return.

Yeah, first race with the G Force shifter and it died after the burnout and didn't fire right back up. Once it fired I was scrambling to get to the line and just didn't pay enough attention and it was in 3rd instead of 1st. With the G Force shifter there's only about .5" difference left to right between the two.

Too far? Hell no the place was packed in 2007 we could do it again I'm sure. We would love to help get a race back together there. It was actually after this event I tore down my daily hatch to start building it and retire my crx. Good times

Did you ever used to go to truck bash and import drags? That **** was CRAZY packed. We had a stripper pole in the trailer and there were plenty of white trash drunk chicks willing to get down on it LOL. That was the best event ever until NHRA SC came.

ONE nhra sc event killed that whole truck bash thing? people have talked about how crazy that truck bash thing was for years, it doesnt make sense to me how one nhra sc event would have had that much of an impact on another event like that?

tony i do have that on video it was an amazing time. both of you guys had problems and cort coasted to a win. i dont remember what time it was but it took forever to finish lol.
i just like to reflect on how great it really was, and not about what happened after the fact. thats all. fun times for sure. because one thing, nhra did pull all of us together, cuz for dam sure noone else was gonna follow another series like that.

Seems like it was a blast.
I would love to see some vids and pics of all that.
I think I remember reading in SCC about the indy races.

Thats a great question. I sold it to a local and then it was sold again. I was wondering where it is the last little while as well. Kind of wish I still had it to tell you the truth. Man those where some great times. I really miss seeing and competing with everyone I got to know very well over that span. It was so much fun..
