Default Battery Options - ?

we are currently using Odyssey PC680 batteries with screw in terminals, aside from the battery holding **** for a charge, and the terminals coming loose, i guess you could say they work great?

what other options do we have in a battery, and without screw in type terminals, we would like to have a normal post style. can crank on it for more than a minute/ or multiple starts in a row, before it goes dead on us.

we were going to upgrade to the 925? its slightly larger than the 680, but still uses the screw in type terminals, and are trying to stear clear of that.

not looking to step to 16v

what is everyone elses experiances with battery's

anyone use one of these batteries before ?

Why not step to 16v? Just curious....

I use the PC925 myself and have not had a problem. Mine is in the trunk though and I don't use the screw in terminals. Just bolts and lugs for me. I wish I had some pics for you.... sorry.

EDIT: This is all I have man....

i dont think we need the 16v for our cars, the alternators are putting out somewhere around 14v. it would free up some space getting the small alternator off the front of the engine. whats a 16v battery weigh in at ? and you also need a special charger for them too, correct ?

what do you mean "bolts + lugs" you just screw a bolt into the battery and have the terminals on that ? did you loctite yours ? im thinkin about gettin some new lock washers and loctitin these suckers on !

The 16v betteries are pretty big in comparison to a regular battery. They do weigh more too. And yes, you need a special charger for them which is big bucks. In the end you do gain more power by using one. <--- *in theory* and if setup right....

I used a regular SS 316 bolt (I think 5/16"), flat washers, lockwashers and the lug on the end of the 4awg cable. If I was home I would snap some more pics for ya. With the lock washers they have yet to loosen up and it's been like that for about a year now. Remember that I don't get the vibration that you would see given it's location and chassis layout....

those braille batteries look to have a more favorable post/terminal ?

Chad/underpressure02 has one of their small/light/race batteries (not sure of the model number) but it wont hold a charge for ****. and can not sit there and crank or do multiple starts.

Dave,
We sell and use quite a bit of these batteries. They have seem to be working fine for us by itself. We have had quite a few Odyssey and Brailles fail. We've let the Odyssey and Brailles sit on trickle charge on the charger for 15 min and still has a hard time cranking. I dont think there cca is quite accurate. But these Stinger ones we have used for many years as a solo battery for the car and use as back up for big stereo setups. If you have any questions let me know.

# POWER2 Battery Dimensions: 5” H x 6.562” W x 6.875” D (Add 5/8” to height for battery post)

5 Second Cranking: 925A
Short circuit current: 2400A
Weight: 24.9lbs
Temperature range: -40C to + 60C

Constant current discharge in amps to 10 volts:
CCA rating: 380
Ah rating: 30Ah
30 min.: 39.2

I don't use those silly screw in terminals on mine. I just run a 6x100 bolt through my terminals with a lock washer on it, no problems ever.

that is how i have mine, but steve uses the screw in terminals (which still use a bolt/lock washer, but still somehow manage to come loose)

without the terminals, there is basicly nothing to clamp onto with the battery charger it works but its sketchy at best.

The use the screw on top post but you can add a terminal on it. With never had any issues with it coming loose or what not...
