B16 cable transmission problems
Has anyone had bad luck with the syncros going bad? I have put two sets in my tranny and both have ruined the blocks on the syncro that keep it from spining. Just frustrated looking for a little insight. I know what most are going to say, switch to a hydraulic. The problems are I have a tilton twin disk and a quaife and i dont know if they will work in a hydro. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The last set was put in and only driven on the dyno and were shifted very nicely. They were put in right im pretty sure. My buddy helped me who deals with transmisions every day.

Im kindof leaning towards that my self. The clutch hasent worked rite since i got it. I had to make a special double thick throw out gearing just to get it to disengage. Does anyone knw how the exedy twin disks work on a cable trans.
I am having the same problem with our cable B16 trans, we're running an Exedy twin plate though. Seems the 2nd gear syncho will have that block on it beat in allowing it to travel a few more degrees. This locks us out of the gear obviously and when it doesnt it makes for a very slow shift.
I have tried replacing the entire assy and it still did it. The hub/sleeve, both synchros and the gear itself with no luck. Like yourself I am reluctant to switch to a hydro trans bc I have a $1400 clutch with less than 75 miles on it and a spool for this trans.
Depending on how long the current trans lasts I am leaning towards cryo treating the synchros or possibly removing them altogether, the latter may not be an option for you if your car is not a pure race car.

it is the small spline i think. The S1 It has the same final drive as the ls. Quaife's website says they are the same part number.
