they experience over 6g's on accelleration and deceleration. i can imagine slamming into a wall at over 100mph would probably net more than that

hell yeah that's the cool nonchalant attitude about racing that I love to see in a chick and plus the fact she's not afraid to take the reigns on such a beast of a car
plus she's pretty cute too

it was 56 Gs...I remember hearing that on NHRA broadcast the following week. when eric had his accident, wasn't it over a 100 Gs?

Its obvious someone is getting it wrong because Fighter pilots pull the highest G's and they are not that high. 9 to 12 Gz at full thrust turns according to the chart here on the Ronald Reagan.

i think some of you guys have it confused. maybe fighter pilots undergo the highest G's for the LONGEST period of time. Guys that fly prop stunt planes can pull something around 20g's if i remember correctly after a steep dive and pulling up hard. i saw a show one time where there was an onboard camera and the stunt pilot explained that he litterally had to scream and tense his entire body as hard as he could to not be crushed by the forces, the blood would all rush out of his head and for an instant go unconcious.
HOWEVER, in car accidents, and certainly accidents in cars with 7,000+ hp, Hitting a wall abruptly is going to create huge amounts of force for a tiny fraction of a second. for that INSTANT upon impact, the g-forces are huge and then, obviously, go back to "normal" just as quickly as they spiked.
i think im on the right track with this

yes you are on the right track and now that you put it like that it does make more sense.... and Im sure your probably right.
I know JFR is at the top of the game researching the forces put on the drivers in these crashes. So im sure Ashley had it right... just seemed like a incredible number when she said it.

bielieve it IS an incredibly number regardless. the fact that the safety equipment in those things allows you to live through that, and hell, hop out and walk away unharmed is even more incredible.
IF you were exposed to those types of forces for MORE than a fraction of a second, no doubt in my mind you'd be history
