If you have on board logging enabled that may be the cause for the data break. That or connectivity loss from the module to the USB port. Check that the wiring is sound.
The only problem with the TunerView RD1 was the regulators on the first batch of units. I've been using a different one since then and swapped out any regulators that have come back with trouble. Smooth sailing since.

You said the unit stays on, but isn't displaying any data. That has nothing to do with the regulator, which would cause the display to shut off. Every early unit does not have the issue. Only a few.
If you are able to key off, key on, and have it work again it is likely wiring connectivity causing the issue. It's not syncing back up with USB once the connection is lost, which suggests the module is losing power, but a trickily over the USB cable is keeping it alive causing it not to restart itself. Similar to not getting power from switched ignition.

Cant wait to order one. I LOVED my Tunerview, but that stayed in my car when I sold it. Gotta get the RD1 for my racecar soon.
Probably going to get my friend to pick one up as well.
