Default Am i using the wrong sized slicks?

Thanks for reading, now on to business..Drag racing.

I have a '00 civic hatch with a stock h22a engine and an A.C.T. street clutch, Normally i run about 18 psi in my 22x8x15 slicks.

The car pulls 2.0xx 60 foots EVERY time i launch.
It feels like the cars spins a lot, I launch the car at around 5000rpm.

P13 sucks, i borrowed a friends hondata tuned ecu and I managed to pull off a best of 13.9 @96 mph @ 26xx feet elevation (P13 gets me 14.2's).

Rpms wrong or the slick size?

well for one thing, 18psi is alot for slicks. the I'd recommend to run on slicks are 15psi and thats if you are super careful in preventing to break axles. other than that, go lower between 15 and 10psi. the thing is with the 22x15x8 is that there is not enough side wall so that you can get it to lower psi and still have good sidewall. I'd recomend a 22x8x13 size slick with 10-12psi. that should net you some lower 60fts into the 1.8's or if you want to stay with the 15" slick, there is an M&H 23x7.5x15.

That helps a bit, thanks.

I have over 200 passes on the LVMS dragstrip(s) in Hondas over the years.
Broken 3 axles in that time.

I think i have the clutch feel down, I might try the different size 15" slicks.
(Since i have 15" racing rims that i really like).

You are spot on about the sidewall...not much of it there.

the 20x8x14 are pretty much limited to bone stock sohc and even dohcs. I would say the limit on that size is about 180HP, but that is already pushing it. its more for HP output of 120-160hp to the wheels. anything higher than that, you have an increased chance of spinning it easier.

if u are making any kind of power you need 22x8x13's...2 liter and bigger you need 22x9x13 or 24.5s
